Ni Csa Programming Funds Appeal 1 - Presentation Transcript

    1. CSA Programming Funds Appeal Group Name: Nourish International Contact Name: Megan Ulmer, Mackenzie Rapp Name of Program: Hunger Lunch Reason for Denial: Program could not be determined with the information given Appeal Information (Please explain how your program meets the student organization guideline stated in the denial notification email): The Hunger Lunch is an educational event held bimonthly by the campus chapter of Nourish International. The purpose of the lunch is to better inform the student body of humanitarian concerns that are both in and out of the global spotlight. We accomplish this by highlighting a specific, international issue at each lunch and providing attendees with information about the region and peoples around which the topic is focused. The food provided supports the overall mission of the lunch by providing attendees with a humble example of the food that would be eaten within the region of interest. We go through special care to bring provide a tangible expression of the situation of peoples across the globe. The donations collected at each Hunger Lunch are applied directly towards our international project, which will be completed this summer. The project has not yet been selected because there is a rigorous selection process to qualify as a viable option for our venture focus. The money that is raised by the Hunger Lunches cannot be applied towards sustaining the events, buying additional supplies for the Hunger Lunches, airfare or accommodations and will be used solely for the purposes of assisting the chosen community. Currently, the Hunger Lunch is an on-campus program that is open to all students, every other Wednesday throughout the quarter. Our eventual hope is to secure enough donations of food and time that, when coupled with funding from the CSA allocations committee we will be able to host a Hunger Lunch weekly. We are currently working with several local businesses to secure food donations so that funding may be applied to supplies and equipment for the lunches. Until we have partnered with enough restaurants, we are seeking assistance with equipment and marketing costs, as well as the cost of food, which we cap at $1.75 per person. As we have stated, the food is used primarily as incentive to attend the educational portion of the program and is not the central focus of the event. We invite you to attend each of our Hunger Lunches: the dates for the November lunches are the 5th and the 19th between 11am and 2 pm. We thank you for your assistance and look forward to your prompt response.
