  • 1. COUNCIL OF Brussels, 21 January 2008 THE EUROPEAN UNION 5538/08 COSDP 55 PESC 76 CIVCOM 28 JAI 22 PROCIV 8 NOTE From : Political and Security Committee To : Permanent Representatives' Committee / Council Subject : EU Training Programme in the field of ESDP 2008 to 2010 The EU Training Programme lists training activities as they are planned by the current actors in ESDP training. It is structured according to the different main training actors (European Security and Defence College/ESDC, the European Police College/ CEPOL) and according to the different ESDP areas of interest (specific civilian and civil-military training activities and training activities in the military field including EU HQ training). The European Community Project on training for civilian aspects of crisis management ended in June 2007. The European Commission is currently undertaking the necessary steps to ensure appropriate follow-up activities in 2007/2008. The relevant Council bodies and Member States will be kept informed. Annex 1 contains the Academic Programme of the ESDC as established and kept under review by the ESDC Steering Committee. 5538/08 HBW/alr 1 DG E VIII EN
  • 2. Annexes 2 to 4 cover the programme for the year 2008 (to be agreed), for the year 2009 (tentatively agreed) and for the year 2010 (envisaged). The number of participants indicated constitutes the maximum participation for each specific course. For those courses offered by Member States, while open in principle to all Member States, the exact scale of participation of other nationals is subject to a decision by the respective organisers. Regarding the national training courses, this programme in principal contains only those activities which are both, in line with the training requirements identified and open for participation of other nationals. Exclusively national training activities in the field of ESDP are not listed in the EU Training Programme. _________________________ 5538/08 HBW/alr 2 DG E VIII EN
