  • 2.  Thefirst item selected was mainly due to it having broken recently and was thus available – it is an iron. The second item selected was in complete contrast and not associated with any sport, namely a plastic cup – and I noticed a pile of them just waiting to be of service.
  • 3.  The objective is to move the iron in the shortest time over a specific circuit The sport requires a smooth surface and works best in a carpeted room The sport is a race that requires competitors to run backwards whilst dragging an iron within a demarcated route The course outline is demarcated with plastic cups – this requires creativity! The race can be performed individually or against other competitors on a larger course
  • 4.  The iron can be prepared for speed by polishing the contact surface The start requires the iron to be behind the line On “GO”, the iron is pulled over the line and a stopwatch triggered The player moves backwards as fast as possible and must keep the iron on the ground at all times.
  • 5.  The “straights” enable great speeds to be achieved There is no speed limit on the course! The “ironman” does not have to remain on the course and may step over the boundaries Spectators are advised to stand back, particularly at the corners
  • 6.  The iron will take corners in a “broadside” fashion Corners require lower speeds to prevent hitting the boundary cups Cups may be moved but if they fall over then the player is disqualified A player is also disqualified if he steps on the boundary cups
  • 7.  The time it takes for the iron to cross the “finish-line” must be recorded and compared to other competitors This game requires inGenuity and Creativity and may be hazardous if the iron is still hot or if prior permission from mom is not obtained!
