  1. 1. 2013 Land Cruiser vs. 2012 Range Rover march 2012 Updated 3/20/12 Top Land Cruiser Advantages Over Range Rover In the world of off-road vehicles, Land Rover is one of the few companies with a history and heritage that can compare with Toyota’s. Its Range Rover has grown from a utilitarian wagon to an icon known both for its ability and its luxury. The newly refreshed Land Cruiser for 2013 is more than up to the challenge. Not only can it go toe-to-toe with Range Rover, in significant ways it betters the English challenger. As this Edge will show, Land Cruiser is a refined, versatile, capable vehicle that takes a back seat to none. „ Off-ROAd ABILITY Land Cruiser has both rugged off-road hardware and innovative electronic systems to help conquer almost any terrain. • 5-Speed Crawl Control with Off-Road Turn Assist In rough terrain, this “off-road cruise control” lets the driver concentrate on steering. This feature is not available on Range Rover. • Hill Start Assist Control (HAC) When starting on a grade, HAC helps minimize backward rolling. HAC is useful off road and on, and Range Rover doesn’t have it. • Skid plates Land Cruiser comes standard with three metal skid plates to help protect underbody hardware. Range Rover has only one, and it’s plastic. „ AdvAnCed TeCHnOLOgY No matter how you challenge Land Cruiser, it’s up for just about any mission. It has the power and capacity demanding owners require. • Multi-terrain ABS Land Cruiser’s ABS reads the surface conditions and adjusts its operation automatically. Range Rover’s ABS doesn’t adjust for surface conditions. • dynamic Radar Cruise Control In Land Cruiser, DRCC helps maintain a distance from the vehicle ahead, making for easier highway travel. Range Rover doesn’t have distance pacing. „ COMfORT And COnvenIenCe Land Cruiser impresses with its inviting, comfortable interior. It also has the added comfort of a standard telematics system. • four-way-adjustable rear seats Rear seat passengers have lots of ways to find comfortable positions. Range Rover’s standard rear seats fold but don’t adjust. • four-zone climate control Land Cruiser boasts four separate temperature zones for better passenger comfort. Range Rover has three zones. • Premium Hdd navigation with entune Land Cruiser’s Entune system includes popular mobile apps and services that Range Rover doesn’t offer. Look inside for detailed info about this summary, important safety information and disclaimers. All of them are more expensive than Land Cruiser. As a result, only the base HSE is included in this Edge. Confusingly, Range Rover Sport is a separate model using the unibody chassis foundation of the LR3 and is not included in this Edge. Here are some of the major features of Range Rover HSE. 3. 3. 3 20I3 LAND CRUISER vs. 20I2 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER „ Off-ROAd ABILITY Land Cruiser Advantages A Closer Look HAC2 has benefits for off-road use as well as on road. When starting from an uphill stop, HAC helps stop the vehicle from momentarily rolling backward. Range Rover doesn’t have this useful feature. hill Start assist control (hac) Land Cruiser Range Rover Hill Start Assistance Standard Not available Anyone experienced with off-road environments knows the value of skid plates: They help protect underbody components from the scrapes and other damage that can occur in rough environments. Land Cruiser has skid plate protection for the front suspension, transfer case and fuel tank. That’s three times as many skid plates as Range Rover. Skid plates Land Cruiser Range Rover Skid plates 3 1 5-Speed crawl control with Off-road Turn assist 5-Speed Crawl Control, up from 3-Speed Crawl Control in 2011, is like off-road cruise control. New for 2013 is Off-Road Turn Assist, which enhances Land Cruiser’s ability to make sharp turns while using 5-Speed Crawl Control1 . Range Rover’s hill-descent aid has only a fraction of Crawl Control’s capability. „ AdvAnCed TeCHnOLOgY multi-terrain aBS Land Cruiser’s ABS can distinguish between on road and off-road driving conditions, and it adjusts control to suit. As a result, braking capacity is optimized over a wider range of road conditions. Range Rover doesn’t have a multi-program ABS. Land Cruiser Range Rover Multi-terrain ABS Standard Not available Dynamic radar cruise control When driving at highway speeds, Land Cruiser’s Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) helps to automatically maintain the driver-selected pre-set following distance behind the vehicle ahead3 . Range Rover cruise control isn’t that sophisticated. 4. 4. „ COMfORT & COnvenIenCe Four-way-adjustable second-row seats Land Cruiser provides second-row passengers some of the luxuries usually reserved for front-seat passengers, such as four-way-adjustable seating. Range Rover’s second-row seat doesn’t slide, and a reclining feature is an extra cost. Four-zone climate control Because Land Cruiser has four climate comfort zones standard, even rear-seat passengers can have the indulgence of individual climate controls. Range Rover has a single rear-seat zone standard. Land Cruiser Range Rover Front climate zones 2 2 Rear climate zones 2 1 (Second zone available) Premium hDD Navigation with Entune Land Cruiser comes standard with navigation and Entune, including support for popular mobile apps and services4 . 5. 5. 1 The Land Cruiser is designed to meet most off-road driving requirements, but off-roading is inherently dangerous. Abusive use may result in bodily harm or vehicle damage. Toyota encourages responsible operation to protect you, your vehicle and the environment. Seatbelts should be worn at all times. 2 HAC is designed to help minimize backward rolling on steep ascents. It is not a substitute for safe driving judgment and practices. Factors including grade, surface conditions and driver input can all affect whether HAC will be effective in preventing a loss of control. Please see your Owner’s Manual for further details. 3 Dynamic Radar Cruise Control is designed to assist the driver and is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving practices. Please see your Owner’s Manual for important instructions and cautions. 4 Always be sure to obey traffic regulations, maintain awareness of your surroundings and all road and traffic conditions.
