Foreigners Getting Chengdu Local Driving License
For getting the driving license in Chengdu, the Traffic Management Bureau, Chengdu has
the following regulations:
For the foreign driving license holders:
Passport and one copy, three 1-inch photos;
Driving license, one copy of the driving license and the translated version of the driving
license from the Notary office or Foreign affairs office;
Physical examination in the Vehicles Management Office;
Pass the theoretical examination.
For those who do not have driving license:
Registering in a Driving School and get the training from the School;
Pass the examination
The procedures of getting the local driving license:
Go to the Vehicles Management Office;
Get the Driving License Application Form and Vehicles Driver Physical condition Form
and fill them;
Physical Examination;
Hand in the two forms, Passport and copy of the passport, Foreign Driving license(and
Chinese Translation), 4 photos;
Pay the related fees at the counter;
Hand in the bill in the hall and reserve the date for the examination;
Attend the examination;
Get the Driving license.
Examination Fee:
Applying Car Driving License: 280 RMB / Person / Times
Applying Motorcycle Driving License: 140 RMB / Person / Times
Retake Examination Fee for Car Driving License: 140 RMB / Person / Times
Retake Examination Fee for Motorcycle License: 70 RMB / Person / Times]
Driving License Issue Fee: 10RMB

Preconditions:
Those who have foreign driving licenses can apply local driving licenses for the same
kinds of Vehicles if they meet the applying requirements.
Foreigners should apply the driving license in their residence place; if the driving
license is expressed in Chinese, the applicants should also provide the Chinese
translation.
The Vehicle Management Bureau will execute the Vehicle License Protocols Signed
with other countries and other related Agreements.

Remarks:
According to the Vehicles Management Office, Chengdu, it is not allowed to have an
interpreter for the driving license application examination even if the applicants are from
the non-English speaking country.
