Background <ul><li>The Red Scare was the second of its kind and occurred in the period directly after World War II from 1947-57. </li></ul><ul><li>It was the fear of the spread of Communism and Communist aggression against the US. </li></ul><ul><li>As a result of this fear a new practice known as McCarthyism came into play. </li></ul><ul><li>McCarthyism was basically the the accusation of treason/communism without proof during the second Red Scare. </li></ul>

Information <ul><li>As a result of the McCarthyism ideals many people began to accuse neighbors of being Soviet Spies. </li></ul><ul><li>One of the most notable cases is that of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg. </li></ul><ul><li>This was a husband and wife who were convicted of espionage and given the death penalty in 1953 </li></ul>
