  7. 7. National Scholarships Programme <ul><li>There will be a £150m National Scholarships Programme targeted at bright potential students from lower income households. </li></ul><ul><li>Further details will be available from Summer 2011. </li></ul>
  8. 8. Tuition Fees <ul><li>All full time Higher Education students must pay tuition fees </li></ul><ul><li>Any university or college can charge a graduate contribution of up to £6,000 per year for 2012 entry </li></ul><ul><li>Newcastle College fees are to be confirmed for 2012 entry </li></ul>
  9. 9. Payment of Tuition Fees <ul><li>Take out a Tuition Fee Loan which is paid directly to Newcastle College </li></ul><ul><li>You will not have to pay this back until you are earning over £21,000 per year after you graduate </li></ul>
  10. 10. Maintenance Loan <ul><li>A maintenance loan will be available to all eligible full-time students irrespective of family income. </li></ul><ul><li>Can be used to assist with living costs i.e. accommodation, utility bills, travel etc. </li></ul><ul><li>Paid directly in to your bank account in 3 instalments per year (subject to attendance). </li></ul><ul><li>Check Directgov for more info on rates. </li></ul><ul><li>You will not usually have to pay this back until you are earning over £21,000 per year after you graduate. </li></ul><ul><li>You repay 9% of your income above £21,000. </li></ul><ul><li>For example, if your salary was £25,000 you repay 9% 0f £4000 which works out at around £6.92 per week. </li></ul>

Maintenance Grant <ul><li>Means tested based on your household income </li></ul><ul><li>Up to £3,250 maximum per year (more than 2011 entry) </li></ul><ul><li>Further assistance may be available for single parents, special support requirements and students with a disability </li></ul><ul><li>This does not have to be paid back </li></ul>
