    23. Points discussed following the presentation: The following slides describe situations the breakfast participants are in. As a group, we did not necessarily provide answers. Most of these points are open issues. If you have experiences to share in these areas, please open a discussion on NetJMC & Co Linkedin group for intranet managers.
    24. The proliferation of tools • There are many different tools availableor throughout organizations for the same similar purposes, especially for collaboration. • The spread of social media is in part responsible for this. • Should the intranet manager take control of the situation? • It is essential to get people to start with their purpose, then choose the tool. • Should enterprises impose tools or allow choice?
    25. Note from Jane on proliferation of tools (survey data*) • Organizationsand use ofthe most mature in who are collaboration social media (Stage 3) emphasize 2 things more than the other enterprises: • The choice of tool is highly regulated • The right to open a collaborative space is controlled (procedures & guidelines) Global Intranet Strategies Surveys: 2007 and 2008
    26. Personalization “out of control” • One intranet manager described a situation where personalized services (content feeds based on implicit and explicit personalization) are causing information chaos and overload • Too many parts of the organization are providing these services; there is no overall strategy. • Is it possible to have a strategy in this area? • Is it preferable to leave a high degree of autonomy?
    27. Creation of a CIO position • One organization on external that has historically been focused primarily communication is now creating a CIO position (Chief Information Officer) focused on internal needs. • What profile should they look for? • How should the job be described? • Where should the job reside in the organization?
    28. Suppression of the intranet manager role • Onerole of Intranet Manager to eliminate organization has decided the • The different business and functions in the organization are now responsible for defining their needs regarding internal web capacities • IT then provides the solution. • There is no defined role responsible for the overall strategy.
