  • 2. Project Objective
    • Move laboratory and office supplies and equipment from Building 1 (B1),1 st floor, to Building 2 (B2), 4 th floor. The project start on 10/15/2008. The actual relocation takes place Saturday the 10/22/2008 so that offices and laboratories are ready to occupy by 9 am 10/23/2008. The project is completed by 10/24/2008. The total relocation budget is 0.3 m $ US.
  • 3. Scope
    • Relocation of laboratory and office supplies and equipment from Building 1 (B1), 1st floor, to Building 2 (B2), 2nd floor
    • The project is initiated 10/15/2008. The move takes place on 10/22/2008. The project is completed by 10/24/2008.
    • Offices and laboratories should be ready to occupy by 9 am 10/23/2008.
    • The budget is 0.3 m $US
    • The move involves 5 laboratories and 10 offices, staffed by 50 people
    • The distance between building 1 and 2 is 1 mile
    • Items subject to relocation will be packed in B1, transported and unpacked in B2.
    • The equipment and supplies will be transported by trailers between building 1 and 2
    • Separate contractors will be employed for transport of animals, hazardous materials, chemicals, and frozen biologicals, cleaning of B2 pre-move and B1 post-move and for establishing adequate insurance coverage

    • Inclusions
      • Cleaning and decontamination of B1 and B2
      • Packing materials will be provided
      • Communication with staff for pre-move and post-move instructions
      • Relocation of laboratory supplies including animals, chemicals, biological materials and refrigerated items, large equipment, office supplies, furniture and electronic equipment
      • Insurance for any damage inflicted as a result of the relocation
      • Items already in storage in B2 will be distributed on the floor the day of the move
    • Exclusions
      • Personal items will not be moved
      • Assembly/reassembly of complicated technical equipment
    • Assumptions
      • B2 is designed to accommodate the relocated items
      • The facility (B2 floor 2) is functional and ready for move-in (lights, electricity, cable, phone lines in place. Vents, electric plugs, alarms where needed etc.)
      • The customer carries necessary licenses
      • Contingency plans not required for risks with low probability of occurring (earthquake, bad weather, traffic related problems)
