Facebook Privacy & Application Settings Even though you should assume that all informationyou share on Facebook could be made public, thereare some precautions you can take to keep theinformation you want to stay just between friendsfrom being shared publicly.
Facebook Privacy & Applications Settings Accessing Privacy SettingsTo access the privacy and applications settings for your Facebook account navigate to the Privacy Settings tab under the Account menu of your Facebook profile.
Facebook Privacy & Application Settings Privacy SettingsFrom this page you can modify your privacy and application settings.To change the personal information applications are able to access click on the Applications and Websites link on the bottom left side of your screen.
Facebook Privacy & Application Settings Privacy Settings- Applications, Games & Websites From this page you have a number of privacy options. Take the time to navigate through the different setting options and make changes accordingly. From this page you can also preview what your Facebook profile looks like when people search for you online. To manage what profile information applications your friends use can access select the edit settings tab to the right of the Info accessible through your friends field.

For example if you have friends who useFarmville, the Farmville application can access your personal information. You cancontrol the information applications your friends use can access from this privacyoption.
Facebook Privacy & Application Settings Privacy Settings- Public SearchBack at the Applications, Games and Websites page you also have the option to preview what yourFacebook profile looks like when people search for you online. Public search controls whether peoplewho enter your name in a search engine will see a preview of your Facebook account. By disablingthis feature your Facebook profile will not be included in search engines. Please note this feature isenabled by default.
Facebook Privacy & Application Settings Privacy Settings- Block Users & ApplicationsAnother option you have is a Block List. To access the Block List navigate to the Privacy page and select Block List.
Facebook Privacy & Application Settings Privacy Settings- Blocking Applications From the Block Lists page you have several options to choose from. You can block other Facebook users, application and event invites from your profile and view applications that you have blocked. To block a specific application navigate to the applications Facebook page and click the Block Application link on the left. Blocking an application means an application cannot access your profile information.

Albums give you greater options for privacy settings and allow you to customize different settings for different albums. You have the option to create groups or select specific people to better control privacy settings. Take the time to familiarize yourself with the different settings options available, as there are many.

HypertextTransfer Protocol Secure, HTTPS, is a way to provide encrypted communication forsensitive transactions over an insecure network.To enable this feature on Facebook, from your profile go to the drop down menu underAccount and select Account Settings.OPSEC Warning: HTTPS does not mean post, email or chat critical and sensitiveinformation. HTTPS is a good way to protect your logon information (i.e. user names andpasswords) but the same rules apply: assume anything you post, chat or email will be madepublic.

This is something that you consent towhen you access the application and give it permission to access your profile.An easy way to make sure you are utilizing HTTPS- check the URL in your browser. If it says:https://www..... you are browsing with a secure HTTPS connection.
