  • Write to your local paper about autism, as most candidates read local papers. Download a letter to help you do this. If you want to you can add in a personal message. If you need the email addresses for your local newspapers, please contact the NAS press team at press@nas.org.uk.

Letter for local media for the election

  1. 1. Letter for publication [Date] Dear Sir In the run up to the general election, I would like to encourage local candidates from all political parties to pledge to stand up for people with autism and their families. Autism affects over half a million people in the UK and many do not get the help, support and services they so desperately need. As the parent of a child/adult with autism/As a person affected by autism/As an autism campaigner [delete as appropriate] I would like to see our future MP support the work of The National Autistic Society and do their very best to represent the interests of people with autism both locally and at a national level. The right help at the right time can make an enormous difference to people’s lives. Local people can email their prospective parliamentary candidates and ask them to stand up for autism by visiting: www.autism.org.uk/2010election Yours sincerely [Name and address]
