Who are they?

The Echos are 3 sisters who are initially from London. They can all play guitar and sing, however Natasha and Aysia can also play the drums where as Kate can also play the piano. Aysia is the fashionable member of the group who also the bands stylist for gigs and meet and greets. Kate is the straight A student is very passionate about acting and Natasha is the creative one who writes the songs and helps to make the bands music videos.

History of how the band formed and the beginning of success.

Kate had already preformed in plays in the west end, and preformed in shows such as Les Miserables and the sound of music, the production team decided to record an album with songs written by people in the play, Kate asked if her sister Natasha was able to help as she was talented in that area. Together they wrote the song ‘flashing lights’- the song was a duet between the two sisters. The album was released and their song was played on Radio Caroline, and quickly became popular amongst listeners. Knowing this the girls father/ manager Jack Echo brought the band together by including Aysia as the guitarist and making Natasha the drummer. She was proven to be the missing link in the bands success.

The Record Deal.

Although the addition of Aysia helped the band, Mr. Echo had a hard time trying to promote the girls. The girls recorded their first album ‘Distinct, Absolute, Memories’ at Cherry Pie Recording Studio (January 2009), they sent it to local studios and radio stations, including Radio Caroline, who immediately feel in love with the knew sound, and so did the British public. However, there father still felt that they had to be signed to an actual record label therefore the girls performed at Gallery Cafe Open Mic & Songwriters Showcase (July 2009), Luckily for the girls ‘Hollywood Records’ A and R guy went to their gig (he heard about it while he was listing to their song ‘flashing lights’ on radio Caroline) as he was, trying to find new sound to add an international edge to the label. He organized a meeting with the girls as he liked their sound and flew back to Burbank California (Hollywood Records) with them, the Echos then preformed for the labels vice president of A and R Jon Lind and their contract was signed (September 2009) with their album ‘Distinct, Absolute, Memories’ officially being released in (November 2009).

The Echos have preformed in places such as 02 academy London England, the Nokia Theater in Grand Prairie Texas and the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City California as a ploy to attract American fans to their sound, and it worked.

Why Hollywood Records?

The Echos target market is girls aged 10-17 years, who watch the Disney Channel, Like the Twilight Saga and according to rubicame and young ideas they are explorers looking for the need to discover themselves, wanting to do ‘Great Things’ they are aspirer wanting to be perceived as the best and being popular and also belong in the mainstreamed category by following what is popular.

Walt Disney owns Hollywood Records, therefore to access the Echos target market, I wanted a record company that worked with Disney and my chosen record label has that, also Hollywood Records has a diverse range of musicians. Ranging from pop to rock, as The Echos have a lot of different elements to them I wanted to have a record label that would be willing to support that and enable my band to feel like they could re-invent themselves and remain fresh.

Hollywood records would also give the band a chance for an acting contract with Disney, appearing in shows and movies to gain more popularity through this. Other recording labels did not allow this type of contract to by built.

A big inspiration for my band is the Jonas Brothers who are signed to Hollywood Records. They are brothers and my band is formed of sisters. There’s 3 of them, there 3 people in my band, The fathers of both groups are their managers, they are both very entertaining. I hope that my band can aspire to be the female version of the Jonas Brothers. Which is the ultimate reason why I wanted The Echos to be singed to Hollywood Records, as I am a fan of the boys and have been to a Jonas Brothers concert, I have had first hand experience on how successful and well marketed these boys are, having lots of fans, been in several Disney movies including a documentary of their concert, and having their own franchise, doing live webcasts and touring around the world. Their record label Hollywood records has proven themselves to be the right platform for the Jonas Brothers and are what (I believe) The Echos need and their record label.
