Audience Research

  1. 1. Audience ResearchBy Natalie Conneely
  2. 2. Out of the three options, whichgenre do you listen to the most? Genre1210 8 6 4 Genre 2 0 Rock Pop R&BThis gave me an idea of the genre of the music my magazine wouldbe based on, and the majority of my questionnaires read that pop isthe most popular genre to use.Using these results I will focus on the Pop genre to a certain extentin my magazine in order to satisfy my audience. However I will alsoinclude other genre to gain a wider audience.
  3. 3. How often do you buy a musicmagazine? Amout of times10 8 6 4 2 Amout of times 0 never once a once a yearly week month To sell a magazine full of entertainment every month would be a waste of time as a lot happens in a week in the music industry and everyone would already have the information, so once a week or every two weeks would be good. I will sell a magazine once every two weeks due to the results I have received, it is apparent that people tend to buy magazines on a daily basis more than a month.
  4. 4. Which price would you feelcomfortable paying for a musicmagazine? Price1510 5 Price 0 £0.50 - £1.50 £1.50 - £3.00 £4.00 - above The price of the magazine is very important because if it is too high then no one is going to want to buy it despite what is inside. So to make my magazine £1.50 would make it acceptable for my audience.
  5. 5. What is the first thing you noticeabout these front covers?Title – 5/20Celebrities – 13/20Writing – 2/20Colours – 0/20Other - 0/20As you can see by my results, the majority of people tend to look at whois on the front cover before they consider buying the magazine. With awell known magazine on sale it doesnt matter if the full title of themagazine is on show.
  6. 6. Which name would you prefer formy music magazine? Music Magazine Title 10 8 6 4 Music 2 Magazine Title 0 Sonic Treble IBYS Boom clef I used different types of names for the options and it looks like the best voted one would be Sonic Boom, which I think is a good choice as it uses onomatopoeia.
  7. 7. What artist would you like to seein my Music Magazine?Teen artists are very Artists popular with everyone right now, from older Taylor Swift generations to the youth. This gives me a Justin Bieber sense of who would bring different One Direction audiences to my magazine. Avril Lavigne Beyonce Katy Perry Carly RaeAs well as other artists I will focus on Jepsen of the industry to the youthsatisfy my audience and see that what they want is given.
  8. 8. what would persuade you to buya magazine? Parts of a Music Magazine 10 8 6 4 2 0 Parts of a Music Magazine This part of the quiz allows me to see what I need to emphasise in order to receive the readers attention. By the results, I need to make sure the content of my magazine is interesting and not just a nice front cover.
  9. 9. If you could interviewanyone, who would it be? people Producer Artist Manager record label ownerThese were the three most popular artists that came back after Isent out this open question. As part of the Music Industry, its notjust the artists who are important. There are other people whoalso help out. Interviews and inserts of the different roles in the industry will be introduced through my magazine. Maybe even advertise any careers in the industry for my audience to check it out.
