    • Rwandan History• 1961, republic country Rwanda, consisted of twomain group, the Hutu and the Tutsi• Hutus were 85% of the population anddominated the government• Tutsi minority tired of the Hutus harassmentmoved to Uganda and created rebel army knownas Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF)• Civil War killed up to 800,000 Tutsi men, women,and children and many Hutus.• August 1993, RPF and Hutu rebels signed peaceagreement.
    • • Canada was the leader of the United Nations• Canadian L.T Gen Romeo Dallaire was theleader of the U.N peacekeepers.• Romeo Dallaire was in Rwanda during theGenocide and was requesting for more U.Nassistance but he was rejected.• Many lives were lost including 15 CanadianU.N peacekeepers under the command ofRomeo Dallaire.Canadian History
