1. 1. Nanotechnology Sensitization Program 06/10/09 NSTC 2009 # 1 Nanotechnology Program
    2. 2. Nanotechnology Sensitization Program-Introduction 06/10/09 NSTC 2009 According to the Nanotechnology Victoria, estimates have been made of the number of new graduates needed by 2015 in order to support Nanotechnology research based industry, and preliminary figures indicate that over 1 million Nanotechnology-skilled personnel may be required.
    3. 3. Nanotechnology Sensitization Program-Application 06/10/09 NSTC 2009 Nanotechnology is an interdisciplinary domain, students from all the disciplines, those who want to leverage their career in various domains including Pharma, IT, Electronics, Polymers, Healthcare, Medicine, Textile, Automobiles, Telecom, Biotechnology, Chemicals, Food, Computing, R&D, Marketing of products and training, etc. will come across Nanotechnology applications in their respective streams.
    4. 4. Nanotechnology Future 06/10/09 NSTC 2009

The U.S. National Science Foundation has predicted that the global market for nanotechnologies will reach $1 trillion or more within 20 years.

Research community is actively pursuing hundreds of applications in nanomaterials, nanoelectronics, and bio nanotechnology.

Most near term (1-5 years) applications of nanotechnology are in the form of nanomaterials. These include materials such as lighter and stronger nanocomposites, antibacterial nanoparticles, and nanostructured catalysts. Nanodevices and nanoelectronics are farther off, perhaps 5-15 years, and will have applications in medical treatments and diagnostics, faster computers, and in sensors.

    5. 5. Program Delivery Methodology 06/10/09 NSTC 2009

Join the program by submitting the application form with necessary fee.

Receive sensitization kit including study material, CD (s) and assignments at your postal address.

Self study of sensitization kit.

Participate on web portal activities on www.nstc.in and receive internet based support.

Submit assignments/ paper for award of Certification.

Receive certification from "Nano Science and Technology Consortium“ after submission of paper.

Receive on going support from "Nano Science and Technology Consortium".

    6. 6. Nanotechnology Sensitization Program 06/10/09 NSTC 2009
    7. 7. Nanotechnology Applications 06/10/09 NSTC 2009 Nanotechnology has applications in all conceivable areas, and scientist / researchers are finding newer applications of the nano materials and nano fabricated materials. Currently Nanotechnology is mostly used in Cosmetics, Medicine/ Drugs, Fabrics, Defence, energy and water purification, but with in few years all others domains will also be using nanotechnology as potential tool.
    8. 8. Online Teaching Methodology 06/10/09 NSTC 2009 The course follows ‘State of the Art’ online teaching methodology. Participants can take part on web- portal activities and receive internet based support. The program involves assessments by mentors from NSTC and outside experts. URL- http://nstc.celnet.in
