  2. 2. 1st Trimester (1 – 3 Months) Month 1: 1 • During the first month of pregnancy the egg is normally fertilized within 24-48 hours. The single fertilized cell begins to rapidly divide and at this point in time is called a zygote. Between days 7-10 from fertilization implantation usually occurs. • The Umbilical cord, amniotic sac, and yolk are beginning to form. At the end of the month your baby is 2mm long. Size of a rice for the early stages of development.
  3. 3. 1st Trimester (Continued) Month 2: 2 • The embryo is officially a fetus • All of the fetus organs are forming, including external structures • Fingers and toes begin to form, while the leg grows longer • Sex organs are forming, but not enough to identify the gender • Eyes move forward while eyelids begin to form • Fetus is 1 inch long and weighs less than 1/8 of an ounce
  4. 4. 1st Trimester Cont… Month 3: • By the end of this month the fetus is fully formed. • Other features start to grow, like the nails of the fingers, and toes • The beginning of the teeth, circulatory system, the liver, and the reproductive organs

  6. 6. 2nd Trimester (4 – 6 Months) Month 4: • Teeth and bones become denser • Baby can suck his/her thumb, yawn, stretch, and make faces • The reproductive organs and genitalia are fully developed • Now you can determine if you are having a boy or girl • Heartbeats are audible through Doppler • Baby is now 6 inches and 4 ounces
  7. 7. 2nd Trimester (Continued) Month 5: • The baby is more active • Eyebrows, eyelashes, finger nails, and toenails have formed • The baby can hear and swallow • The baby is about 6 inches and weighs 9 ounces
  8. 8. 2nd Trimester Cont… Month 6: • The baby has reddish and wrinkled skin • Veins, finger, and toe prints are visible • The baby can open it’s eyes • It weighs 2 pounds and is 12 inches long

  10. 10. 3rd Trimester (7 – 9 Months) Month 7: • At the end of the month, fat begin to be deposited onto your baby • Baby is 14 inches and weighs 2 – 4 pounds • Hearing is fully developed • Baby is constantly changing positions • Responds to stimuli, including sound, pain, and light
  11. 11. 3rd Trimester Cont… Month 8: • The baby’s fat begins to increase • The baby’s weight is about 6 to 6 ½ pounds, and is 16 to 19 inches long
  12. 12. 3rd Trimester Cont… Month 9: • The baby reflects are so good that they can respond to light, sound, and touch • The baby is changing positions to prepare for birth • Baby can blink, close eyes, and turn it’s head • Baby is now 18 inches long, and 7 pounds
  13. 13. 3rd Trimester Pictures This is your baby’s finally months of development, before you can see him or her  7th Month  8th Month  9th Month
  14. 14. Congratulations!!!!! Labor Time!! • During this time you could be in labor any where from 10 to a good 23 hours of labor • This step is difficult for most women, but is all worth it when you have your newborn in your hands (: • Congrats on you baby boy or girl
