  6. 6. Online Course Development (OCD)<br />Began in 1997, based upon experiences of pilot semesters in 1996<br />Rooted in social constructivist theory<br />Revised each year to include new pedagogies, strategies, and technologies<br />

Online Course Development (OCD)<br />Hybrid instructional model<br />Meets for 2.5 hours each Friday afternoon from 2:00 – 4:30 for 8 weeks (20 hours)<br />Cohorts of 4 – 10 faculty<br />Lead by instructional designer with support from online faculty, librarians and technology support staff<br />

Online Course Development (OCD)<br /><ul><li>To graduate from OCD, participants must populate a Blackboard shell with:</li></ul>Syllabus, including course outcomes<br />Completion schedule<br />Unit structure (including outcomes for each unit)<br />Five (5) complete weeks of course work<br />One major summative assessment (midterm or final)<br />

Post Graduate Studies<br />Cohorts continue to have access to OCD site for one year after the completion of OCD to ask for help or give peer support.<br />Online instructors are invited to annual “Blackboard Dinner” to share best practices and demonstrate new techniques and technologies<br />Interested parties can “audit” OCD as a refresher course<br />

Post Graduate Studies<br />Regular workshops offered in the afternoons on various aspects of Bb and other instructional technologies<br />Specialized one-on-one meetings to update skills<br />We have been requested to do Master Classes for people who have been teaching online for an extended period of time<br />
