Conventional Magazine Cover Structure Promotional Offer Masthead Masthead Tagline Issue Number Date PriceCover Story Cover Story Cover Story Main Cover Story Main Image Main ImageCover Story Cover Story Cover Story Cover Line Barcode Issue Information about film Number Date Additional Cover Line Additional Cover Line PriceThese are some examples of typical structures of magazine covers - the main commonfeatures are the Masthead, the Main Image, Cover stories and the Tagline.
    3. 3. ‘Retribution’ The Magazine Cover(and how it conforms to conventions)
    4. 4. The MastheadWhen I did my magazine cover research (which waspresented on my blog) I decided that I was going to usethe Masthead from the ‘Empire’ magazine rather thanthe Masthead from the ‘Total Film’ magazine. I decidedthis because the narrow shape of the ‘Empire’ magazinebetter suited the ideas which I had been having while Idid the research.
    5. 5. The Masthead (continued)After some research I discovered that the Masthead for‘Empire’ magazine was actually the font ‘RelayBold’ with some slight adjustments. So, usingPhotoshop I took each letter and either cut or addedparts which were needed to make it look like theEmpire Masthead. I then decided to take the originaland add a little to it by placing smaller blackversion of each letter on top.
