  • 4. These issues are not specific to non-profits. BUT Non-profit media campaigns tend to be run by: • Volunteers • Employees with no marketing experience • People with limited social media knowledgePeople who don’t really “get” it. Take steps to end global poverty.
  • 5. Tips:• Leverage existing communities - Communities YOU actively participate in• Contribute as an individual - Engage YOUR contacts as brand ambassadors - Conversations & Relationships work bestTell us something interestingthat we can relate to. Take steps to end global poverty.
  • 6. Issues:• Time & Commitment – Not a standalone strategy• Understanding the Cause• Understanding the Medium – Not sustainable $$$Social media is justanother channel. Take steps to end global poverty.
  • 7. Solutions:• Need to already be online & contributing to raise funds & awareness• Know your strengths & weaknesses and address themIt’s about BRANDING& BALANCE. Take steps to end global poverty.

  • 9. Sell your interest in the cause: •Know your cause inside out before you start sharing • Find that one great story that touches all the key points • Share personal content about the impact of contributionsPeople give to people. Take steps to end global poverty.
  • 10. My approach: • Be positive • Sell hope, not despair • Spread the word but don’t cold call • Thank people publicly • You know more people than you think • Really understand the tools and cause BUT REMEMBER …It’s always about people. Take steps to end global poverty.
