Citywide Beach Volleyball Tournament The New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, for the 2nd year in a row, hosted the Citywide Beach Volleyball Tournament in partnership with AVP, Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment, and Cushman & Wakefield. Saturday, August 18, 2007 (Prelims) Sunday, August 19, 2007 (Finals) 2 days * 40 courts * 450 players Coney Island Beach, Brooklyn

      • 183 teams, 450 players, 11 different divisions
      • Players from as far away as Florida came to compete.
      • The largest free tournament on the East Coast!
    6. The Hospitality Tent The Hospitality Tent provided free massages and reflexology sessions, as well as drinks and snacks for players and sponsors.
    7. The Sponsors “ Sponsor Row” was a huge hit on the boardwalk for players, fans, and sponsors. • Naked Juice • Keyspan • Snapple • I-Zone Sunglasses • Coca-Cola • Brooklyn Children’s Museum • US Army • Q 104.3 • Cabot • Haier • Bensonhurst Dental • Cushman & Wakefield

    9. Advertising: Banners
      • 72 pole banners lined Riegelmann Boardwalk.
      • 10 Refresher Ads on 5 Units located in Coney Island, Brighton Beach, and Columbus Park kept New Yorkers “cool” with spritz while advertising Citywide Beach Volleyball and the AVP Brooklyn Open.
    10. Advertising: Newspapers
      • Four (4) 1/4 page ads in Metro and AM New York (300,000 circulation each issue)
      • Full page ad in MetroParks (300,000 circulation)
    11. Advertising: MTA Campaign
      • • 4,000 bus cards distributed throughout the NYC bus system as part of an MTA campaign
      • • 75,000 MTA “Take One” handouts distributed at subway stations
      • Posting on MTA website deals’ homepage (337,000 unique visitors)
    12. Advertising: Print Promotions
      • 50,000 Postcards and 2,000 were distributed retail outlets, Parks recreation centers and nature centers, Community Boards etc.
      • 11 banners appeared in parks citywide, including Central Park, Union Square, Orchard Beach, and Far Rockaway Beach.
    13. Advertising: Signage Signage recognizing the tournament’s sponsors lined Center Court, all the water tents, and the board walk fencing.
    14. Other Promotions
      • 15,000 Save the Date postcards and a full page ad in East End Volleyball Magazine
      • Listings on volleyball meet-ups and social networking sites including MySpace.com, Friendster, Facebook and others.
      • Inclusion in media announcements and press releases to all NYC Media
    15. Winners’ Circle At the end of competition, we awarded 1st place prizes to 24 teams.
