Punting And Co Ed Rules

  1. 1. Major Rule Changes Players: 7 v. 7 for Men’s 8 v. 8 for Co-Ed. The Field: 100 X 40 yds. 4 - 20 yard zones.

Major Rule Changes <ul><li>Game Length : </li></ul><ul><li>48 minutes (4 quarters and 2 halves). </li></ul><ul><li>Stop Time: </li></ul><ul><li>Last 2 minutes of the 2 nd and 4 th quarters. </li></ul><ul><li>Mercy Rule: </li></ul><ul><li>19 points inside 2 mins, 25 points for Co-Ed. </li></ul>

Other Rule Changes <ul><li>Diving to deflag an opponent is legal </li></ul><ul><li>Diving to advance the ball and gain yards is legal </li></ul><ul><li>Punts will actually be kicked </li></ul><ul><li>There are different rules for Co-Rec </li></ul><ul><li>Co-Rec Touchdowns by a female = 9pts </li></ul>

Player Conduct <ul><li>2 UC’s on a player = Ejection and one game suspension </li></ul><ul><li>Fighting = 2 UC’s + DQ for Tournament </li></ul><ul><li>3 Player UC’s total = DQ from Tournament </li></ul><ul><li>Contacting Staff = 3 UC’s + DQ </li></ul><ul><li>4 Team UC’s = Forfeit game + Probation </li></ul><ul><li>5 Team UC’s = DQ from Tournament </li></ul><ul><li>UC’s can be given before and after the game </li></ul>

Punting Rules <ul><li>A punt can be declared on any down </li></ul><ul><li>Teams may not leave the scrimmage line until the punted ball has crossed the L-o-S plane </li></ul><ul><li>The kicker must punt the ball quickly in a continuous motion </li></ul><ul><li>A ‘muff’ is like a fumble, dead at the spot </li></ul>

Punting the Ball <ul><li>The kicking team may only recover the ball if it hits a receiving player and is then caught in the air </li></ul><ul><li>The kicking team may not interfere with the receiver </li></ul><ul><li>A ‘downed’ ball may be picked up and run by the receiving team </li></ul>DECLARED PUNT SIGNAL
  7. 7. Punting Roles and Positions POSITIONS: R + LJ : stay the same. BJ : Parallel to deepest receiver – 8 to 10 yards wide. Primarily responsible for the ball and the receivers FJ : 30 to 35 yds downfield. Assist the Back Judge. If the punt goes out of bounds, it is the R and LJ responsibility to see the spot. Everyone must watch for illegal blocks and contact on the return.

Co - Ed Rules <ul><li># of Players: 8 vs. 8 </li></ul><ul><li>5 players must be on the Line at the Snap </li></ul><ul><li>A Male Runner cannot advance the ball through the Line </li></ul><ul><li>Mercy Rule: 25 points or more within or at the 2 Minute Warning. </li></ul><ul><li>Touchdown by a Female = 9 points </li></ul><ul><li>Thrown Touchdown by a Female = 9 points </li></ul>

Open and Closed Plays <ul><li>There may not be 2 consecutive passes from a Male to a Male. </li></ul><ul><li>If there is a successful completion from a Male passer to a Male receiver; the next pass must involve either a Female passer or receiver. </li></ul><ul><li>Penalties do not change the open/closed status of the play. </li></ul>

Open and Closed Plays <ul><li>It is an Illegal Forward Pass if there are 2 consecutive Male to Male passes. </li></ul><ul><li>The Penalty is enforced from the spot of where the pass is released – and a loss of down is assessed. </li></ul><ul><li>Applies to Trys for extra points as well. </li></ul><ul><li>A Female passer cannot complete a forward pass behind the line of scrimmage to a Male receiver to change the play to open. </li></ul>
