    FACT | SHEET
    • A state-of-the-art specialist paediatric academic and tertiary referral hospital providing child-centred best quality medical services to children of Southern Africa, irrespective of their social and economic status.
    Vision
  • Support
    • Government support directed through the active involvement of the National Department of Health (NDoH) and Gauteng Department of Health and Social Development (GDHSD). The NDoH ensures policy alignment to Modernisation of Tertiary Services. The GDHSD guides strategic fit to provincial health delivery plans and operations to be pitched at the right level.
  • NMCF’s Role
    • Champion the creation of a child-centred health facility to impact upon those who are treated and work in it.
    • Smooth the progress for the establishment of a teaching hospital driven by research at the cutting edge.
    • Build a hospital that marks the turning point on how Africa views its children by providing state-of-the-art specialist health care to all children.
    • Delegate Wits University to offer academic leadership, coupled with the responsibility to guarantee the involvement and participation of all medical faculties to attain a full spectrum of services to be offered as per complete set of its centres of excellence.
    • Location
    • After scrutiny and due process the site location, the Wits Education Campus ― in Parktown, adjacent to the Wits Medical School and Charlotte Maxeke Hospital ― was ruled the most viable for the Hospital. Agreement with Wits regarding the land was entered into in July 2009.
