  • 2. You will need…• A PC, or Mac• Navy MWR Elibrary Borrower’s Account –need one? Here’s how to sign-up.• OverDrive Media Console• IPod or MP3 Player• ITunes (or MP3 player software)• USB cord
  • 3. Login to OverDriveYou can access the Navy’s OverDrive Library through Navy Knowledge Online(Reference  E-Library – Audio & Ebooks).Or go directly to http://navy.lib.overdrive.com .
  • 4. Sign in To Your AccountClick to sign-in with your OverDrive log-in credentials (email and password).Still need an OverDrive account? Follow the new user information on theOverDrive Login screen or watch our tutorial.
  • 5. Your AccountAfter log in you’ll be taken your account. Here you can setyour preferences, access your checked out books, and more.On every OverDrive screen a link to the Browse Menus andHelp will appear at the top.Our demo begins by Browsing for Nonfiction Audiobooks –hovering the mouse over the left menu will display subjects.We’ll select “Business & Finance”.
  • 6. Browsing for BooksSelecting a subject will give you a list of all the audiobooks we own that fall withinthat subject. In this case there are 996 Business & Finance titles.You can use the tools to the left of the list to sort your results (in this case they aresorted by “most popular”), search within your results, or even limit your results tobooks that are currently available for checkout.To learn more about a particular book we’ll click on its cover.
  • 7. Title DetailsEach title screen displays available formats,edition, subject information and holdings.Scroll down to see file size (Title Information)and device compatibility (Digital RightsInformation).Default loan is 10 days, you can change yourdue date with the link provided before clickingborrow.
  • 8. Checking Out a Book…Your newly borrowed books appears on your bookshelf withoption to return it unread, or select your download format.In order to download the title on our computer will need theOverDrive Media Console software. It’s free. All softwareneeded to use OverDrive content is available from yourbookshelf.
  • 9. Get your copy of OMC…To download media, like audiobooks, we’ll need the OverDrive Media Cosole.Adobe Digital editions helps you manage your Epub and PDF ebooks. For moreon that visit our Ebooks tutorial.
  • 10. Get your copy of OMC…OverDrive Media Console is available for numerous devices, and operating systems. There’show to information at the top.This demonstration shows the download and transfer process from a computer to device.We’ll select our operating system and follow the download prompts.
  • 11. Downloading a Book…On your bookshelf you can now confirm your check out (not alltitles will be available in all formats) and download the audiobook. Follow the prompts to send the title to OMC.MP3 titles will work with in App checkout (more on that in ourIPad Tutorial). This demonstration will show the WMA transferprocess. NOTE: WMA titles may not be returned early.
  • 12. Download…First the Download Wizard will begin by confirming thetitle to be downloaded and where the files will be saved.The next step is selecting which parts of the book todownload. You don’t have to download the whole book inone session. Remaining parts can be added using the“Download” icon within OMC.
  • 13. Transfer…Now that you’ve downloaded your book you can listen to it from OMC with the “Play” button.We’ll finish this demonstration by using the “Transfer” Button to send this title to a mobiledevice.Use a USB cord to connect your mobile device to your computer. Highlight the book you wantto send to the device and then click “Transfer”.

Transfer…The Transfer Wizard will begin by confirming the title you’d like to send to your device.Clicking next will begin the Wizard’s search for your mobile device (attached to your computervia USB cord).The Wizard will continue by offering you the choice of which part’s you’d like to send to yourdevice.
  • 15. Transfer…The Transfer Wizard will search for your attached iPod or MP3 player and then open theappropriate file management program (i.e. iTunes).You’ll see a status bar while audiobook transfers and then the finish window.Click Finish – but DON’T disconnect your device just yet.
  • 16. Double Check Your Device!The audiobook transfer process should create a playliston your device.Double check that the playlist has all the chapters in thecorrect order, and that all parts made it into the playlist.Audiobook parts should also be listed in the “Books”section, you can drag and drop the chapters between“Books” and the playlist.Once everything is in order use the eject button next toyour device to disconnect.
