The band consists of Luke Pritchard (lead vocalist), Hugh Harris (lead guitarist), Peter Garred (drummer) and Peter Denton (bass guitarist). Self confessed, their songs are primarily influenced by the British Invasion- when British pop rock bands started becoming known in the United States, and therefore mainstream (for example, the Beatles). They formed in 2002 after meeting in their university and named themselves “The Kooks” by taking influence from David Bowie‟s song “Kooks”. Three months after forming, they signed a record label of commitment to Virgin records.
