  • 3. A truss bridge is a bridge composed of connected elements (typically straight) which may be stressed from tension, compression, or sometimes both in response to dynamic loads

    • Bridge supported by an arch or a series of arches.

    • Not hollowed out: ex. solid block of wood

    • Structure with a solid outer surface (which may be rounded or flat in shape) and a hollow inner area . Ex. A Styrofoam cup

    • Structure supported mainly by a skeleton, or frame, of wood, steel, or reinforced concrete rather than by load-bearing walls.

    • Normally made from shallow steel 'I' beams, box girders, reinforced concrete, or post-tensioned concrete.
  • 9.
    • Structure with a solid outer surface (which may be rounded or flat in shape) and a hollow inner area . Ex. A Styrofoam cup.
