Facts about Private Health Care SectorAccording to the Ukrainian representative study by State Committee of Statistics, nearly 2% of Ukrainians receive services in private hospitals. 5% use private dental services. However, in the biggest Ukrainian cities (Kyiv, Donetsk, Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa, Kharkov) the share of private clinics is estimated at 20-30% (in patients). Dental services, laboratory diagnostics, out-patient care, gynecologic and urologic services are the sectors with biggest private share compared to public sector. The “for free” public health organizations are, as a matter of fact, clinics with paid services. Patients usually pay unofficial price for medical services. With increasing of welfare, Ukrainians are more willing to use private clinics services. The average annual growth rate of private clinics foundation in Kyiv is 12%.
