Copyright © 2014 by the Family International “Me First” Value: Why do my parents put a time limit on the computer games I play and give me guidelines about my TV and movie viewing and my time online? Those things aren’t such a big deal. Heavenly Value: When you spend time on TV viewing, movie watching, or computer game playing, that is time you are not spending on other things in your life. Like all things that we do for fun and entertainment, the important thing is to have a good balance. While you are young, your parents decide on what a good balance would amount to in all areas of your life. As you grow and mature, because of your parents’ guidance, you are better able to make those decisions on your own. There are also cases where your parents feel that certain input will not be a benefit to your spirit and character development. Guidelines are to keep you happy and your inner you healthy and strong. What the Bible says: Whoever ignores instruction despises himself, but he who listens to reproof gains intelligence. Proverbs 15:32 ESV (See also “The Every Extreme? Or Moderate Marcellus?
