  • 3. • After consulting 11amputation specialists hisparents decided to havehis limbs amputated belowthe knee• At the age of 11 months• Now races with carbonfiber artificial legs whichhas led to the nickname‘Blade Runner’• As a child, he announcedto his father that one dayhe would play in the Super8 rugby event, a sign of theambition anddetermination that wouldcharacterize his futureapproach to life• The bad listener
