Social Media Green Efforts Driving Change Final - Presentation Transcript

    1. 2009 Social Media Summit Highlights Green Experts National Conference Adds Corporate Responsibility and Environment Sessions ATLANTA—Mountain Social, a Southeastern Social Media group, announced today that it has expanded the program for the 2009 Mountain Social Media Summit to include sessions led by leading Atlanta-based Green experts. “There is a tremendous convergence between social media and environmental awareness.” notes Jon Gatrell, co-founder of Mountain Social LLC. “We are very pleased to announce that both the Green Chamber of the South as well as SoutheastGreen.com have agreed to speak at the conference and share their insights. Participants at the summit will have a unique opportunity to hear from local experts on how to drive green efforts in their individual and collective efforts.” Ofra Tessler and Galit Levitin, from The Green Chamber of the South will lead a session entitled “Facilitating Collaboration for Sustainable Businesses.” Founded in Atlanta, Georgia in 2008, the Green Chamber of the South is a Chamber of Commerce, non-profit organization that supports the growth and success of sustainability in businesses and encourages innovation and adoption of clean technology. The Green Chamber of the South facilitates connections and collaboration between companies, government, NGOs and the community, supporting the growth of green companies in South East. “We are excited to share our message at the conference,” noted Tessler. “Social Media technologies and events are great tools that support our mission of facilitating green collaboration amongst businesses.” Sandra Cummins, founder of SoutheastGreen.com, will lead a session entitled “Green Trends in Social Media.” Southeast Green.com is a comprehensive website that tells the story of all things green & sustainable in Atlanta and the Southeast. The website features news, events, blogs and articles about what business professionals and consumers are doing to change the sustainable landscape in the south. In addition, the resource directory on www.southeastgreen.com helps promote a sustainable economy by linking people to the resources and services available in the Southeast green industry. “Atlanta’s green businesses and non-profits can substantially increase awareness of their causes and their market share,” said Cummins. “By marketing to the growing number of consumers and business professionals who are genuinely interested in going green, everyone wins.” Additionally, the organizers of the Mountain Social Media Summit have decided to make the event carbon neutral. Mountain Social LLC has partnered with Atlanta-based Verus Carbon Neutral to calculate the carbon impact of the conference and to acquire the necessary carbon offsets.
