  • 3.  Caps and Gowns are scheduled to be delivered on Tuesday, April 23… NO CHECKS… CASH OR MONEY ORDER!!! No Gown… no Graduation! See me if there is a problem.
  • 4. Examination Schedule Monday, May 13: Senior Exams: 1st and 2nd before lunch… 3rd period after lunch (1,2,5,3,4) Tuesday, May 14: Senior Exams: 4th and 5th before lunch (4,5,1,6,7) Wednesday, May 15: Senior Exams: 6th and 7th before lunch (6,7,5,2,3) Exam exemption status given on Friday, May 10th Excused absences may be granted provided arrangements are made by a parent or legal guardian before the exam is scheduled with an
  • 5. Commencement Practice Thursday, May 16, 9AM – Noon, in Stadium If you plan to March on the 17th, be at practice, on time, on the 16th!!!!! If you do not plan on marching, let us know ASAP! Park in lot below Stadium Dress in good taste… shorts and appropriate top… Consider Gideons Bibles will be offered as you exit over the bridge Do not be in the building unless you have official business… Underclassmen still taking exams… dress code still in effect Be at practice… rain or shine… on the 16th…we could delay for weather or reschedule for the 17th… same time… same rules

Graduation Night Friday, May 17TH, 7:30PM, @ DCHS Stadium Be here no later than 6:45PM to line up Ladies will have help in Library Gentlemen will have help in Auditorium Will start march off of “The Hill” @ 7:15PM In case of bad weather, 1st alt. date and time: Saturday, May 18TH @ 7:30PM… 2nd alt. date and time: Sunday, May 19TH @ 2PM If it starts to rain after exercise begins, we will have no choice but cancel Commencement at that point

Dress for Commencement Ladies required to wear light colored dresses, shoes, and hose Gentlemen required to wear light colored shirts, dark dress pants, dark socks and shoes, and a tie Ladies do not wear collars… use plenty of bobby pins… wear high heels at your own risk Don’t let a fashion statement cause you to lose the honor of being recognized with the class of 2013!
  • 8. Cap and Tassel  Cap should be flat  Tassel begins on left… will be moved in unison by entire class to the right signifying your class’ willingness to move forward toward your collective future
  • 9. Friends and Relations You might be a redneck “if”… This is a solemn occasion… it is our way of saying congratulations on a major step in your life Pictures and video are fine… may not come on field until Commencement is concluded… professional photographers will be allowed on field Note: no electricity available for video cameras
  • 10. The Real Deal You will only receive your diploma cover on graduation night Diplomas and grade reports will be picked up in June… – Satisfies 180 day attendance rule – Factors in the “Redneck Mantra” – Any type of misconduct between now and the date you pick up diplomas and final grades, including graduation, could result in your diploma being held and you having to go in front of the Board of Education to request it

What do I do between now and Graduation??? Make sure your correct address is on file. – See Mrs. Buchanan with changes Clear all obligations… financial and otherwise. State law mandates that a student must attain an approved attendance, conduct, and academic record… 2 out of 3 won’t cut it!!! Focus on these 3 areas and finish strong.

What do I do between now and Graduation???(cont’d.) Report 3 or more years of perfect attendance or 5 or less days absence during grades 1-12 to Guidance Sign “Final Transcript” list to have them sent to the school(s) of your choice – List found on board across from Mrs. Buchanan’s desk (You will need your student #) Target to mail out transcripts to selected colleges… Friday, May 31
  • 13. What do I do between now and Graduation???(cont’d.) Diplomas and final grade reports will be picked up starting June 10 by student or legal guardian with i.d. Nothing will be mailed/given out until all obligations are met. If you wish to be recognized at our Academic/Athletic Awards program on May 2nd for a scholarship you have received, you must present proof of the award to Mrs. Holt by next Friday, April 26.
