    if │a│> 1, the graph is steeper and is vertically stretched
    if │a│< 1, the graph is vertically shrunk
    if a is negative, the graph is reflected in the x-axis

    For │x – h│, the graph moves h units to the right
    For │x + h│, the graph moves h units to the left
