The flag of Morocco was officially adopted on 17 th November, 1915. The background of the Morocco flag is red in colour and it also has a green coloured five-pointed star in the center. The green star on the flag is also known as Solomon's seal, which may represent ‘Ishtar', the mother goddess of Muslims. The colour red stands for the successors of the Prophet Mohammed, the preacher of Islam.
The official Morocco religion is Islam and a majority of the Moroccan population comprises of Sunni Muslims of the ‘Maliki’ religious rite. Although freedom of religious faith is a permitted by the Moroccan law, there are very few non-Muslims dwelling in the country.
The Moroccan Dirham, denoted by MAD, is the official currency of Morocco. Historically, the Moroccan Dirham originates from the Byzantine Empire's Drachm, and was used in Arabia and the Levant in pre-Islamic times. The name "Dirham" comes from the Roman word "denarius."

Morroco is a great place for ornithologists! There are over 200 species of Birds including Flamingos, Cranes, Spoonbills, Woodpeckers, Storks, Waders, Ducks, Coots and other threatened species.
Fennec Fox - is the smallest of all foxes, but it also has big eyes and huge ears. The Fennec's ears help them keep cool in the desert heat and also help them hear potential food or enemies. Fennecs live in burrows where they sleep during the heat of the day. This is important since most Fennec foxes live near the Sahara desert. They hunt at night and like to eat insects, lizards, eggs and fruit.
