Holding A Successful Garage Sale - Presentation Transcript

    1. Holding a Successful Garage Sale Best way to get rid of your household clutter and also make some extra cash is thru operating a Garage Sale. Below I'll guide you step by step of how to manage and operate a Successful Garage Sale. Depending on what all you have for Sale, you can potentially earn $200 - $500 in a weekend. 1. Collect items for sale. Go through old boxes, basement or garage and select items you can sell. 2. Write each item on a sheet of paper as you identify it for sale. Don't skip this step as it will make your job easier. 3. Assign a Price for each item & tag a label against them. 4. Check with your city officials and and obtain a permit if one is required. (Permit will range from $5-$10) 5. Set a date for your sale. A two-day weekend garage sale is usually perfect so that more number of people can attend. 6. Advertise your sale. Your local paper probably offers a deal for garage sales. Also you can post an Ad online. Try www.GarageSaleCow.com. I have personally used this website and Because of its unique easy to use features, you may find more buyers. 7. Make signs the day before the sale. You can buy signs or you can make your own out of poster board or cardboard. Your signs must be easily readable from the street, so make it at least 18 x 24 inch in size. 8. Hang your signs the day before the sale in places where they will be noticed by many a passersby. Do not post it on any Government property to avoid fines & penalty. (Example - Electric poles) 9. Keep plenty of change and petty cash. 10. Keep your Garage visually attractive. Many potential customers will drive by first, and you want to make your sale look intriguing and well-organized so that they stop. Place premium items in front. 11. Negotiate slightly though better Just get rid of the item. 1
    2. 12. Offer last-minute deals. If you've still got things left over during the final scheduled hours of your sale, go ahead and slash prices. And last but not the least - Take down your signs after the sale - be a good neighbor!!! 2
