Garage Sale Survival Kit
Organizing garage sales is great fun & profitable. Some of the items which you can
search in your house for selling:
An old blanket.
Old kitchen and the dishwasher.
Kids Toys
Books
Old furniture
Old Clothes
Posters
Music and Movie CDs
Old TV
Old Cycles
Old curtains,
Light fittings,
Shelving, etc.
To pack the items for the customer, do not forget to have:
A small stash of bubble wrap, some tissue paper (don't use newspaper, as it
often leaves marks on china, fabric and wood) and a plastic bag of old plastic
clothing covers from the dry cleaning. These are excellent for protecting delicate
items.
A tape measure. Most people will require checking the size of furniture, measure
off fabric, etc.
A small pad of paper and pen.
Cash & Coins
Can of plain water to server your customers. Garage Sailing is thirsty work!
Setting up
Make sure you set up in advance — you need to be ready for early shoppers.
Make sure you have a plan in case it rains (you can include alternative
arrangements in your ad).
Make sure you have enough tables/trestles to display all your goods (you can
hire trestles if you need to). Have all items you want to sell neatly on display.
Put up outdoor umbrellas to shade from the sun or rain.
Advertising
Advertising online is a good way to attract customers. You can use
