  3. 3. <ul><li>Henry Ford was born July 30 1863. </li></ul><ul><li>Ford had dyslexia. </li></ul><ul><li>Grew up on a farm but showed an early interest in mechanics. </li></ul><ul><li>Disliked his farm work and left home at age 16. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>Henry Ford worked as a apprentice machinist </li></ul><ul><li>Married Clara Bryant and supported his family by running a saw mill </li></ul><ul><li>Became an engineer with the Edison Illuminating Company </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>He died in 1947 of a cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 83 </li></ul><ul><li>Two years earlier, he gave up the presidency of his company to his grandson, Henry Ford II </li></ul>
  6. 6. <ul><li>Ford introduces the first moving automobile assembly line at highland park in 1913 </li></ul>
  7. 7. <ul><li>Ford Motor Company began paying its workers $5.00 for an eight hour work day </li></ul><ul><li>Before this workers were paid only $2.34 for a nine hour day </li></ul>
  8. 8. <ul><li>Ford wrote a book named My Life and Work. </li></ul><ul><li>In this book, he promoted his personal views in articles and books. </li></ul>
  9. 9. <ul><li>In the early 1920s Henry Ford fell behind other competitors </li></ul><ul><li>This was because he refused to offer the Model T in only black </li></ul>
  10. 10. <ul><li>To help sales Ford made the Model A, introduced in 1927. </li></ul><ul><li>It was the first car with different styles – two seats or four seats. </li></ul>
  11. 11. Model T & Model A <ul><li>In 1926, production sales of the Model T decreased. </li></ul><ul><li>In 1927, Ford introduced the Model A to the market. It was produced from 1927 to 1931. </li></ul>
  12. 12. Ford 4AT Trimotor <ul><li>Ford’s most successful aircraft was the Ford 4AT Trimotor </li></ul><ul><li>The Trimotor first flew on June 11, 1926 </li></ul><ul><li>First successful U.S. passenger airliner, carrying 12 passengers </li></ul>
  13. 13. International Trade <ul><li>In 1929, Ford had many successful dealerships in six different continents </li></ul><ul><li>Eventually, Ford was a producer of a third of the world’s automobiles </li></ul>
  14. 14. Ford’s Museum <ul><li>Ford opened a museum in 1929 </li></ul><ul><li>The museum was named the Henry Ford Museum and its theme was practical technology </li></ul><ul><li>It is still open today </li></ul>
