  • 3. What is it?
    • Electric irons are really just dried up iron but it has a cable attached to it.
    • The electric iron needs to have BOILING HOT water in the middle of it so it can make the clothes straight.
    • In the olden days people did not have an electric iron, so they took a lot of time to straighten the clothes.
  • 4. What is it connected to.
    • The electric iron is connected to a lot of things.
    • Here are some things that the electric iron is connected to.
    • The Electric Drum
    • The Peach Peeler
    • The Automatic Fly scarer
    • The Tobacco Plug cutter.
Some of these come at a different rate of time. The electric drum was used before the electric iron was used. Which was about in 1852 (When the really old irons where on sale).
  • 5. How it has changed
    • Before the electric iron, people used flat irons. Flat irons are a solid metal that had to be heated up on a fire before they could be used. However this was not a safe method as it was very hot and could easily burn people and clothes. This is why the electric iron was invented.
    • Over time the electric iron has changed very little. Except they are lighter, now they can be as light as 90grams.
    • Also now electric irons heat up more quickly these days.
  • 6. Does it have a big or small impact?
    • I think that it has a big impact because most people who live in houses have a electric iron.
    • The electric iron makes it quicker and easier to make your clothes straight.
    • Also after you finished you can RELAX
  • 7. Questions and Answers.
    • Who made the Electric iron? Where was it invented?
    • Henry Seels made the first electric iron, in 1882, in New York.
    • How long did it take before it was available to most people?
    • It took over 40 years! As most houses were not connected to mains electricity.
    • How big were the first irons?
    • The first iron weighed almost 15 pounds and it took a long time to warm up.
  • 8. Extras
    • The first irons were introduced in to Europe in the late 16th century. These were flat irons.
