  4. 4. <ul><li>NIFTY consists of top 50 stocks (by market capitalisation) on the National Stock Exchange </li></ul><ul><li>Market capatilisation is essentially the size of the company. It is calculated by multiplying a company's shares outstanding by the current market price of one share. The investment community uses this figure to determining a company's size, as opposed to sales or total asset figures </li></ul><ul><li>Based on their relative market capitalisation; each stock is given a weightage. The individual weightages are combined to form an index </li></ul>
