Transcript of "8 Marketing Ministry No-no's"

1. 1. “ I am committed to helping Pastors and Christ-centered Leaders like YOU impact lives, influence communities and increase your income without compromising your message.”
2. 2. 8 Ministry Marketing No-no’s
3. 3. On my recent free teleseminar I gave away lots of tips, but my top eight “Don’t Do It!” tips weren’t included. So, to balance the scales, I’m going to share these “Don’t Do It!” tips with you today. Ready? 8 Ministry Marketing No-no's
4. 4. 8 Ministry Marketing No-no's #1. Don’t Develop “Shiny Object Syndrome.” You have “SOS” if you try EVERY “new” thing that hits the marketplace in an effort to stay relevant and think that each new toy will be the one that finally get results For example, Apple is great at this! I just bought a new ipad in December, and already they are coming out with a new product.
5. 5. 8 Ministry Marketing No-no's #1. Don’t Develop “Shiny Object Syndrome.” You have “SOS” if you try EVERY “new” thing that hits the marketplace in an effort to stay relevant and think that each new toy will be the one that finally get results You can waste a lot of time, energy and money if you do not utilize the tools you purchase.
6. 6. 8 Ministry Marketing No-no's #2. Don’t be a Fire Fighter. You REACT to your day instead of planning it thoughtfully, so your hours are spent fighting fires and dealing with URGENT items while the real reason you embarked on this journey—the life-changing work you REALLY love is once more pushed aside This should not be you and it should not happen every day.
7. 7. 8 Ministry Marketing No-no's #3. Don’t be a Hamster. You are ALWAYS “busy”! Constantly "SPINNING your WHEELS" and not moving forward in your ministry. We find ourselves moving at a rapid pace and going no where.
8. 8. 8 Ministry Marketing No-no's #3. Don’t be a Hamster. You are ALWAYS “busy”! Constantly "SPINNING your WHEELS" and not moving forward in your ministry. Ask yourself this question: Is what I'm doing today contributing to my desire to expand my reach?
9. 9. 8 Ministry Marketing No-no's #3. Don’t be a Hamster. You are ALWAYS “busy”! Constantly "SPINNING your WHEELS" and not moving forward in your ministry. If you are not expanding, you are dying. Expansion is not only critical to your sucess, it is the #1 priority of your ministry.
10. 10. 8 Ministry Marketing No-no's #4. Don’t be Rip Van Winkle. You PROCRASTINATE on important projects and miss opportunities while you wait to see where you can "fit them in" to your schedule Ask yourself these questions if you find yourself procrastinating: 1. What would happen if I finished this project? How would it contribute to my bigger goals? 2. Why am I holding on to this?
11. 11. 8 Ministry Marketing No-no's #4. Don’t be Rip Van Winkle. You PROCRASTINATE on important projects and miss opportunities while you wait to see where you can "fit them in" to your schedule EAT THE FROG! Brian Tracey offers this way of handling things: “ If the worse thing you had to do everyday was eat a frog, wouldn't you want to get it over at the beginning of the day?”
12. 12. 8 Ministry Marketing No-no's #4. Don’t be Rip Van Winkle. You PROCRASTINATE on important projects and miss opportunities while you wait to see where you can "fit them in" to your schedule Write down the things you have to do in a day. Look at the list and identify the “frog.” Then eat the frog and everything will be smooth sailing.
13. 13. 8 Ministry Marketing No-no's #5. Don’t be a Drone. Your expend so much energy (just like a worker bee) on your DAILY TASKS that you hardly find the time to focus on expanding your reach and forward-thinking, BIG picture visions Don't get stuck in the little tasks of life that prevent you from expanding, growing your ministry.
14. 14. 8 Ministry Marketing No-no's #6. Don’t Neglect Your Needs. You've disconnected from the things and people that fuel you productivity AND ignore your need for rest because you’ve “gotta make this work” Take care of yourself so you don't burn out. The goal is to not get to the point where you've gone too far.
15. 15. 8 Ministry Marketing No-no's #6. Don’t Neglect Your Needs. You've disconnected from the things and people that fuel you productivity AND ignore your need for rest because you’ve “gotta make this work” Here's a trick to keep you focused: Get an egg timer! Use it to time yourself on major projects.
16. 16. 8 Ministry Marketing No-no's #7. Don’t Ruin Your Reputation. If you have a long list of UNRETURNED PHONE CALLS and EMAILS you never responded to, many of which have possible opportunity attached to them, you are teaching potential partners that you are unreliable.

Don't over promise and under deliver!

You are not who you say you are but who other says you are.

17. 17. 8 Ministry Marketing No-no's #8. Don’t be a Casualty. And, you feel BUSY and STRESSED most of the time, but STILL aren't seeing your efforts pay off financially. Look at the big picture and determine if it will enhance you and those you are called to serve. Will others life become transformed by your work?
