  1. 1. Surviving US History How to make it through US History with a PASSING GRADE
  2. 2. Computer Graded Assignments <ul><li>Quizzes, checkpoints and exams can be retaken . </li></ul><ul><li>Quizzes, checkpoints and exams do not time out . You can keep working after the clock counts down to zero. </li></ul><ul><li>SAVE your answers in the computer graded assignments, but make sure to click SUBMIT at the end! Do not walk away from your computer for long periods of time, you may loose connection and your work. </li></ul><ul><li>Exemptions: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>If you pass Part I of a Unit test, I will exempt you from Part II. </li></ul></ul>
  3. 3. Zeros in the gradebook <ul><li>Zeros are entered on Mondays for any work not completed the week before, unless you are notified otherwise. </li></ul><ul><li>Zeros are not permanent: You can replace a zero at any time for full credit. </li></ul>
  4. 4. Extra Credit <ul><li>A fixed amount of extra credit is available for each Unit. I cannot give any more than is already allotted in the course. </li></ul><ul><li>Extra credit for every Unit will be given to students who finish all assignments in the Unit before we move on to the next Unit . Students who do not keep up with the course will not get extra credit, and will also not have their grades rounded up at progress report and final grade report card time. </li></ul>

Study Aids <ul><li>Reading Guides: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Will help you focus on key information and take notes on reading(Found in Unit Resources: Materials) </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Unit Resources: Kewords, Review and Reference, and Advance Preparation. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Flashcards, activity sheets and timeless, and other various study aids (Found in Unit Resources) </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Unit Test Study Guides: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Complete them, save them, and use them to study for the final. I assure you the information will look VERY familiar when you go to take a test. (Found in Doc Sharing) </li></ul></ul>
  6. 6. Alternative Assignments <ul><li>If you do not want to do a particular writing assignment, you can do either the notable figure assignment for that Unit, or a timeline. Only one of each assignment per Unit is permitted. </li></ul><ul><li>Alternative Assignments are found in Doc Sharing. </li></ul><ul><li>They are worth the same number of points as the original assignment and should be submitted in the dropbox for the original assignment. </li></ul>

Feedback and Gradebook and Live Lessons <ul><li>Read your teacher feedback! </li></ul><ul><ul><li>I spend a lot of time grading assignments and making comments on them so you can improve your work. Look at the assignments I send back to you in your inbox, and resubmit if I offer changes you should make. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Check your gradebook! </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Your gradebook is a great way to see what you are missing, but mistakes do happen. Be sure that if you submitted something, I graded it and returned it to you. If it has been a week I haven’t graded it, contact me to make sure I received it. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Check for zeros and REPLACE THEM by completing the assignment. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Come to Office Hours and Live Sessions! </li></ul><ul><ul><li>There is not replacement for getting your questions answered right away, and going over the very information you are responsible for that week with the teacher and fellow students. </li></ul></ul>
  8. 8. Final Keys to Success <ul><li>Work daily on US History </li></ul><ul><li>Turn assignments in </li></ul><ul><ul><li>DO NOT SKIP ASSIGNMENTS. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Ask for HELP when you need it. </li></ul><ul><li>Come to live lessons </li></ul><ul><li>Pass US History!! </li></ul>
