Slide 2: Hurricane Cyclone One Bravo was formed over the Bay of Bengal in the Indian Ocean in Monday 19th May 1997.
Slide 3: • There were 111 deaths due to the hurricane. • 500,000 people were left homeless. • There was a severe outbreak of diarrhoea. • Electricity supply was disrupted in most effected areas. • The storm cut communication lines with islands along the coasts, making it difficult to receive damage and casualty reports.
Slide 4: •The Country was in $5 billion dollar debt. •Not many people had insurance. •Crops and cattle were lost. •2 metre high tidal surges covered the low-lying islands in the Bay of Bengal. •Large numbers of fishing boats and •nets were destroyed. •608 educational institutes were damaged.
