Photoshop task

  1. 1. Photoshop

Basic info & tips • Pixel based program • Good photos = – Good lighting – High resolution/high DPI • Always make sure you save as JPEG/TIFF – Make sure you write .jpeg or .tiff at the end • Photoshop can’t fix really bad photos – i.e. really underexposed (really dark) will be really grainy – can’t fix this • Tools are to AID, when they become too much – photos will look fake and unrealistic – don’t let special effects become special DEFECTS – there is a fine line! • PHOTOSHOP IS A HUGE, COMPLEX program, it will take time and practice to learn • Watch tutorials online – CS3 version 10.0
  3. 3. Other photo editing programs • iPhoto (have to buy this for next year) ipad • Many, many other apps (and free) on ipad • Picmonkey (website) http://www.picmonkey.com/ Just from doing a google search…..
  4. 4. More tool stuff (complex) More tool stuff (simple) i.e. brush size/filters etc windows toolbar More tool options i.e. will give you more options like more shapes for example (click and hold tiny black triangle)

Toolbar (tools) move tool (to move things around) Crop tool or ‘marquee’ tool (selects areas) lasso tool (to manually select areas) Crop tool Magic wand slice (will never use) Healing brush or ‘band aid tool’, patch, redeye N/A Paintbrushes N/A Gradient Burn & dodge text Rectangle, ellipse, line, (to create shapes) eyedropper eraser Blur/sharpen/smudge Pen (never use) Selection tool N/A Hand (moves page around) & zoom Colours (arrows just switch them)
  6. 6. At the top…… • You will use these most often….. Colour correcting mostly!
  7. 7. Tasks • Find word document titled ‘photoshop tasks’ and printed out for you – (get me to sign after you’ve done each one) • Save them onto your USB/harddrive • Make a powerpoint with your steps/screen grabs You will upload each picture and the powerpoint onto your blog when complete.
  8. 8. Due • After activities week (first tues) (the photos) & (the powerpoint) (title it: ‘Photoshop software and task construction evidence’ )
