Why I Did This Show Hello… I’m ‘Mikool’. I am 10 years old & live in London, England I made this presentation in memory of my gerbil ‘Goldy’ who sadly died. I am so very sad now that Goldy is gone, and I hope that when he sees my tribute to him, he will be very proud of me Fred - Goldy’s brother My Goldy

About Goldy Before I tell my poem about Goldy, I first want to tell you what a wonderful pet he was… My Goldy was a Golden Agouti Gerbil who’s species came from Mongolia... a very long way from London! He had beautiful soft golden fur, soft red eyes and was very loving. I got him when he was only 6 weeks old from the pet shop. He was only 10cm long from head to tail when we first met. When I got Goldy, my brother Andy also bought Goldy’s brother who we called ‘Fred’. This was so that they could be happy together in their fantastic house. Thankfully Fred is still alive and digging away happily in his cage! Gerbil’s love to explore and are great adventurers. They will chew almost anything just to keep their teeth trimmed. I always spoiled my Goldy by playing with him and giving him lots of lovely fresh vegetables and seeds to eat! My Goldy

My Poem About Goldy Now, here is my poem I wrote about Goldy I hope you like it ! I wrote this before Goldy passed away, but have since changed the words into past tense as my tribute to him, and added two verses to show how much I love & miss him

Verse 1 My gerbil Goldy was cute and furry, It’s was so much fun to watch him scurry, In the sawdust and in his hut… Under the shavings, or chewing a nut, Day and night he scuttled around… I always loved his ‘burrowing’ sounds!

Verse 2 In the palm of my hands, his dainty paws, Were tipped with sharp and scratchy claws, He loved me to stroke his golden coat, And he loved a tickle of his silky throat. His innocent eyes would look up at me, And he seemed to say: ‘I love you Daddy!’

Verse 3 But then my Goldy got very ill, His cage was quiet and his wheel was still, I knew at once that my furry friend, Had finally come to his short life’s end. But now that he’s gone through Heaven’s door, I’ll treasure his memory forevermore!

Verse 4 Although my Goldy has passed away, I know he still sees me from Heaven today!
