Football(1)

 1. 1. FOOTBALL THE NUMBER ONE GAME IN THE WORLD
 2. 2. What Is Football???

Football or soccer , is a team sport played between two teams of 11 players each. It is widely considered to be the most popular sport in the world. A ball game, it is played on a rectangular grass field, with a goal at each end of the field. The object of the game is to score by manoeuvring the ball into the opposing goal; only the goalkeepers may use their hands or arms to propel the ball in general play; the rest of the team generally uses their feet to kick the ball into position, though occasionally they may use their chest or head to intercept a ball in mid air. The team that scores the most goals by the end of the match(90 minutes) wins. If the score is tied at the end of the game, either a draw is declared or the game goes into extra time and/or a penalty shootout , depending on the format of the competition.

 3. 3. History Of Football

The history of association football , which is also known as soccer, can be traced to various traditional football games played in Europe in ancient times, but the modern game has its roots in the formation of the The Football Association (FA) in England in 1863 . At the time, football clubs all played by their own, individual codes of rules, and game-day rules had to be agreed upon before they could play one another.

 5. 5. The Football Pitch The length of a football pitch is usually 100-110 metres. The width is about 65-75 metres. The pitch has a center spot; where the ball is usually put to start the game. It also has two penalty boxes: limited place for the goalkeeper to hold the ball with his hands. In the penalty box itself there is a penalty spot: used only when a foul is committed, thus a penalty given to the opposite team. There is also the outside line; a football pitch needs only a limited place.
