  • A lot of you might know me from the Twittersphere or what you’ve read in the brochure. But basically I am the AVGirl, as I was so labeled about a year ago when someone was remarking on how much they detested their AV GUys then looked at me with a pure look of horror realizing that I was kind of in that category.
But that story made me realize that there is something wrong in the technology world and the disconnect between this cool technology and what can be done with it is detracting from helping many in our industry achieve potential business goals because they are so tripped up by intimidation, fear or simple misunderstanding. So, the AV Girl was born!

  • What need will this fulfill for your stakeholders? What change in behaviour is each stakeholder group looking to change?
  • Radio Frequency Identification
  • Touch the white hands together and voila! They share information. Plug into your USB and the information is dumped - you now have contact information which can be imported to any contact management system.
  • Will you remember this person later? Perhaps still not a substitute but an also?
    $20/unit to rent.

  • In my household, we have the following:
A small digital camera, two phones with very nice built-in cameras, a large digital SLR, a 35mm SLR. We also have one record-to-tape Camcorder, one all-digital record camcorder and, again, two phones that have decent built-in video cameras, which are already integrated with our cloud server system for easy sharing and downloads. How do we make this useful and relevant to your goals without it becoming just another device we have to carry around?

  • I like to reference the idea of voice because this is a chance for attendees to actually voice an opinion or question. And, now with the new IML device they can really do so.
Here are a few cool features.

  • Sponsorship and branding
    Agendas
    Speaker Bios
    Handheld electronic signage
  • Sponsorship and branding
    Agendas
    Speaker Bios
    Handheld electronic signage
  • High quality inbuilt microphone
    No roving microphones required
    Efficient, interactive and dynamic Q&A
Speeds up debate allowing more participants to have their say
Ability for everyone to be heard in meetings of any size
    Microphone Queuing
Record sessions – board meetings (e.g. legal req’ments to record proceedings?)
  • Sound enhancement required but a full PA not appropriate (eg breakout session, boardroom meetings)
Logistical efficiencies, gives sound reinforcement in even the most adhoc of meetings
High produced events… walk-in immersed in sound!? Mention launch events… vibrating in hand… where can it go?
    Personal PA? - article

  • You have two devices/gadgets at hand. They are seemingly very different in their appearance and features, but does this change their functionality?
    Questions to discuss:
    1. Do you need the features? Will those features help you achieve your ROI?
    2. IS there a time and place that you can envision the more elaborate device wouldn’t be appropriate? (Pharma/Med?)
    3.

  • So no discussion on gadgets would be complete without including the godfather of all gadgets - the iPad!!

  • What do you wish the ipad could do? Put together all the gadgets we looked at today and imagineer your perfect gadget.
But remember, what NEED(s) does it serve? How will it affect your ROI?
