International Collaboration Smart City Campus Cluster SC Urban Labs City Protocol Objectius The City Protocol Society is a non-profit organisation composed by a trust community of cities, enterprises, academia and other organisations that benefit from the knowledge and experience of city at worldwide level to accelerate the transformation and collaborative action of cities, offering a tutored guide. Construct and maintain a repository of documents that describe projects, policities and standards proven in cities that work together to face its common transformational challenges. Establish the basis for the evaluation and accreditation of documents and norms for the transformation of cities that will guide the development of the City Protocol. Create an education and knowledge exchange network between cities, companies, academia and other organisations. This resource must foster the diffusion of available proven solutions for its general use and must assure that the transformation in cities and the sustainability of the City Protocol go in parallel. 13

Applications Not verticalized, simpler and more solidary through CityOS, without losing its services specialisation. Implementation of pilots in the first phase and subsequent operation of the platform. 3. It is a center that will control centers across the city, it is not about managing services integrated into it. Its goal is to have a tool to improve governance. Therefore, it defines the criteria which requires the city light: color temperature, levels, uniformity, contrast, control systems and operational management. It is not determined the number of lamps and lighting technology; it is the basis for the business model and technology to implement the concept of smart lighting in the city. MILESTONES GOAL 7.4 Smart Lighting (lighting plan) • Early interventions lighting plan of the city have been on many places: Galileo st., Tarradellas Av. and Monument Cinto Verdaguer. • Pending implemented a comprehensive solution to Paseo de Gracia. • Analysis to develop a pilot with technological innovation Avenue Parallel. • Analysis to find new business models to implement solutions pay per light. 30

It is based on the incorporation of solar roofs, mixed uses, collective district heating, water recycling, and the use of electric vehicles as the most outstanding proposals, in order fit the maximum energy demand with local production. MILESTONES • Study for the intelligent management and control of water in the block “Cristobal de Moura”. • Being realized energy selfsufficiency plan with a vision to 30/40 years and plan activities for the next 10 years • Consulting analysis of the feasibility to define a local energy operator. • Use and expansion of Districlima heat ing and cooling network . • Analysis of the feasibility of interconnection network. • Ecoenergia Mercabarna. • Implementation of wind energy in schools in the neighborhood of “Les Corts”. 31

(pilot in hotels) • Smart Park system for touristic buses in Sagrada Familia. • An App to pay the green and blue zones through mobile phone. • MILESTONES OBJECTIVE 7.8 Smart parking • • • 11 underground parkings in Barcelona, 8.283 spaces, tele-guide of free spaces. 5 hotels (10+ estimated) through wesmartpark system. 44 bus places sensorized in Sagrada Família place. The Payment System by mobile phone will be ready in the 2T 2013. 35

Savings estimate: de 5 a 10% Currently, there are 5 lines and 6 interchanged points . 36

More transformations will come in the future. MILESTONES OBJECTIVE 7.10 Urban Transformation • • More than 100 preinstalled multiservice lampposts, more than 30 free WiFi points and more than 50 sensors and devices in Passeig de Gràcia. Any new change will be associated to the Barcelona Smart City project. 37

    • Barcelona Smart City projects 9. Smart city campus, clúster smart cities and Urban Lab 1) Barcelona created the Smart City Campus, located in the 22@ innovation district. In order to further strengthen the strategy of the city, urban innovation, Barcelona wants to offer the city a storefront for companies to develop and test pilot. 2) The cluster of smart cities, that will be developed around Smart City Campus, wants to work and to agglutinate diverse sectors like ICT, energy, mobility… for the creation of an ecosystem that integrates not only companies (multinationals and SMEs), but also to institutions, research centres, technology transfer centers, and universities and the academic sector. 3) The goals of the Urban Lab are to use the city as a laboratory to approach the new solutions to market municipal services, and also, that companies can use it as a space for testing, facilitating market access and promoting competitiveness.
