A toolbox is only as good as its tools. We've got plenty of ideas and documents to share, but we want to find out more about you! The more comments and documents fill up the Parent Toolbox, the more useful (and fun) it'll be for all of us.

To that effect, we'd like to reward the most active and enthusiastic members of this channel. And what better reward than free stuff? Presenting: The Microsoft Office Real Life Tools Sweepstakes.

For each comment you leave on a Parent Toolbox blog post, you'll get one entry into our sweepstakes. Same for each document you upload to one of our groups (Home Organization & Money, Fun & Games, and School & Writing) — one entry for each document. In other words, the more you participate, the more chances you have to win!

We'll count up all of the entries at the end of the year and randomly draw ten winners. Those lucky ten will receive a copy of Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007. (Perfect if you haven't gotten around to upgrading, or if you know a deserving student who could use a boost.)

Good luck to all of you. Let the tool swap begin!

If you're a small print reader, here are the official rules and restrictions.

  • Tchais58 Tchais58 As a middle school ELA AIS teacher, I use PowerPoint as my main media for presenting all of my lessons on the SmartBoard. We have MS 2007 in school, but I do all of my planning and make all of my presentations at home. I now find unless I save what is added at school in 97-03 format, I cannot access it at home (no 2007 there!). ARGH! Most of the other teacherws with SmartBoard use Notebook, but I LOVE Powerpoint and will always remain an advid user! commented 1 month ago

  • msbee Liberty Christian School My ten-year-old grandchild just can't spell well. She really needs spell-check for all the computer projects she does - e-mail, slide shows, posters and signs, essays, even in her math answers to story questions. Often I let her use my computer because she doesn't have it on hers. She has missed so much school because of her Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes, it is so hard for her to keep up. Yet, she tries and tries and tries again. commented 2 months ago
  • TomLackey Keystone Clean Air For parents of young children. It is my understanding that Dr. Spock apologized for the mistakes he made in his book on raising children. Is it true that he felt somewhat responsible for generations of spoiled brats who were never properly disciplined? commented 2 months ago
  • mrwozney Paul Wozney I use some Adobe products, and they have included the ability to publish direct to web using major services (video published direct to YouTube for instance). I use powerpoint to present concepts to my students all the time, but the uploading to slideshare via a website and having to monitor appropriate versions so that the web version doesn't glitch is a drag. Why not incorporate a publish to slideshare option in powerpoint and make sharing the final product that much easier? You could do the same thing in Word- have the ability to publish direct to scribd.com. commented 2 months ago
  • mrwozney Paul Wozney It'd be nice if outlook could sync with my online calendars- the google calendar I operate for my masters class, the yahoo calendar I operate for my small group at church, and my workout calendar at mapmyrun.com to track my workouts and runs. commented 2 months ago
  • parenthacks Asha Dornfest Re: shared family calendars that can sync with Outlook, have you checked out Cozi (http://www.cozi.com/Family-Calendar.htm)? commented 4 months ago
  • Bvijlbri Bvijlbri It would be very helpfull if calendar sharing would be available in the regular Outlook versions (not just Exchanges). For parents planning is everything. So syncing your Outlook Calendar at work with Outlook Calendars at home would make life a lot easier for all moms and dads. commented 4 months ago
