  2. 2. Kathleen “Kit” Coleman<br />Born Catherine Ferguson in Dublin, Ireland, she emigrated to Canada in 1884. She became a correspondent for the Toronto Mail. Kit Coleman has the distinction of being the first female war correspondent in the world. She had covered the Spanish-American War in Cuba beginning in 1898. <br />
  3. 3. Ernest Hemingway<br />Known for being one of the greatest novelists of all time, few recall the Ernest Hemingway started his career as a reporter. In 1937, Hemingway had agreed to report on the events of the Spanish Civil for the North American Newspaper Alliance. He was also a correspondent during World War II.<br />
  4. 4. Edward R. Murrow<br />Known as the “Father of Broadcast Journalism,” Murrow’s career took off during WWII when he reported on the London bombings for CBS Radio. During this time, he coined his famous phrase "This is London.” <br />
  5. 5. Peter Arnett<br />Peter Arnett has been reporting from warzones since the Vietnam War. He received a Pulitzer Prize in 1966 in International Reporting. He had worked there for 13 years. Arnett had snuck in Afghanistan during the Soviet invasion of the 80’s. <br />He is also known for his live reports he gave during the Persian Gulf War and the invasion of Iraq in 2003. <br />
  6. 6. Richard Engel<br />Richard Engel made his career as a freelance reporter for ABC News during the United States invasion of Iraq in 2003. He was one of the few Western reporters to remain in Iraq for the duration of the war, his appointment as Senior Middle East Correspondent and Beirut Bureau Chief in May 2006. <br />Engel had covered the skirmish between Israel and Hezbollah during 2006 from Beirut and Lebanon. He was the first broadcast journalist to receive the Medill Medal for Courage in Journalism for his report entitled War Zone Diary. He also received the Edward R. Murrow Award in 2006 of his work in Iraq.<br />
  7. 7. Lara Logan<br />Lara Logan is South African television and radio journalist for CBS News. She found work CNN reporting on incidents such as the 1998 embassy bombings, conflicts in Northern Ireland, and the Kosovo War. She currently reports for “60 Minutes” on CBS. <br />Her reports have given an look at combat in Afgahnistan and Iraq and has interviewed top military and political leaders. She was also put her life on the line while covering the recent revolution in Egypt. She has received many awards including Emmy Awards and an Edward R. Murrow Award.<br />
