1. 1. Group Presentation.
By Samantha and Mica
2. 2. Far Beyond Tattoo.

It is a documentary about the history of tattoos, process and about some culture tattoos.
 3. 3. The purpose for this documentary was to give people a better insight about tattoos and to show reasons behind why people get tattoos such as culture reasons.
 4. 4. LINK TO DOCUMENTARY:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMT2W1TFSvc&feature=related

I like the camera shot they used as they are able to edit in the interviewee’s name on the side next to her.
I also liked how they interviewed her in front of a brick wall as this causing now distractions forcing the viewer to solely watch her.
5. 5. I liked how they put in a voiceover while showing pictures which were relevant to what they were talking about.
6. 6. I liked how they spoke about the sailors who got tattoos of places they had been to. This interested me because I learnt something I never knew before.
This inspired me because in my documentary I want to be able to teach people about things that they never knew about tattoos.
7. 7. The Art Of Ink.

This documentary goes through different tattoo artists ideas and thoughts about tattoos.
 8. 8. It shows the audience how hard tattoo are done by tattoo artists.
 9. 9. The tattoo artists explains why they are tattoo artist.
 10. 10. LINK TO DOCUMENTARY:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NONrw13Jurg&feature=related

I like how the artists tattoo designs are in the background, reminds us that they are in a tattoo shop.
11. 11. I like how they changed the camera shots while interviewing him, they used a mid shot then a close up shot.
12. 12. I like the effect they used to slowly scroll up to eventually show the whole tattoo.
13. 13. CREATED BY;
Mica & Samantha
14. 14. COLOUR CODING

Mica (GREEN)
 15. 15. Samantha (PINK)

Tattoo Books
Interesting approach. Talks about culture and how long the tradition had been around, why and images of the art work.
16. 16. IMAGES FROM THE BOOKS
The books feature an extensive variety of popular subjects including fantasy, Celtic, tribal, pagan, floral, language, history, gothic, and mythical.
17. 17. INTERNET Documentary on graffiti artist
The new Hotel Erwin in Venice commissioned Tattoo artist Norm of Spotlight Tattoo in Los Angeles to paint some art at their front wall. This YouTube video shows a a mix of Graffiti and tattooing as the graffiti artist is a also a tattooist who views both as artistic and creative. He said that the hotel asked him to graffiti a wall to add an 'urban image to their hotel'.
18. 18. Establishing shot of Hotel Erwin in Venice
NOTES;
Formal italic font that has connotations of a conventional and reserved hotel
NOTES;
Second shot is informal and demonstrates the process of graffiti art.
Spray cans, unfinished art and the large wall set the scene. It is unconventional as graffiti is something stereotypically done at night or in the dark. This is because it is usually portrayed as negative.
19. 19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0twwdFQFwOs
20. 20. The artist talks about being hired. He doesn’t talk directly to the camera which I think is effective, as it shows the progress he makes whilst the audience watch and listen.
The next shot is a pan of multiple spray cans multi colours.
Close up of the wall with voice over describing process.
21. 21. Non diegetic hip hop music with a slow zoom out of overall completed piece.relaxed
Conventions
FROM THE VIDEO I HAVE LEARNED:

Not all establishments have a negative view on graffiti which is interesting.
 22. 22. Many people who do this, multi task doing graffiti, tattooing and commercial art.

Our Documentary
NOTES
5 episodes;
1.Prejudice against tattoo’s
2.cultural tattoos
3.Women with tattoos
4.Darker side of tattoos
5.Tattoo’s and religion
23. 23. IDEAS
INKED
Skin Deep
Our episode; perceptions of tattoo’s
Explore the emotional and personal reasons for getting a tattoo alongside horror stories of flesh eating diseases and what's in store in the future for tattoos.
24. 24. OUR IDEAS
Tattoo Fonts.
I found the styles were simple and not eye-catching.
25. 25. FONTIDEA’S
Use similar idea;
The title Of the Documentary
26. 26. Favorites
Both clear and still show a creative side.
27. 27. TIMINGS
Each episode is a one hour part of the documentary series.
It will be ended with flashing clips of the next episode.
Any of the programs we could use.
Channel 4 has many choices.
28. 28. Advertisements used can be to do with something artistic or creative that links to our documentary. This advert below, is one of two adverts currently showing on Channel 4 advertising their "New Music Month", which lasted for whole March on Chanel 4.This advert features: The Horrors, Bat For Lashes, Unkle Jam, The Noisettes, Jack Peñate and Patrick Wolf.
29. 29. The art behind vandalism Documentary
This 10 minute documentary is based on different interviews about the graffiti scene in Singapore.I think looking at graffiti in different countries is interesting to compare it to that in the UK.
30. 30.
 31. 31. What i like about the documentary;
1) The credit were very creative and artistic, made to look like the names were spray painted, with non diegetic sound of a spray can spaying the paint.
I think it was very effective and would like to do something similar.
After title sequence, voice-over begins immediately. 2) There is an establishing shot that showed Singapore. It was at night and included a voice over that set the scene. The voice over described the wall as canvas' and there were clips of mysterious figures spraying graffiti on the walls.
32. 32. 3) the whole documentary was interviews and i do not think that was effective as it was boring. Also, all the interviewee's had the same view on graffiti, so it was biased and didn't create an argument.
Low angle shot of graffiti in progree to make it more intersting. Good to use this idea of varying shots.
33. 33. SHOTS used in the interviews
FRONT; Close up shot.
Side/close up shot
High angle shot and a different back ground that has relevance to documentary.
Long shot and a group interview
34. 34. Improved if;
Different age and sexes were being interviewed.
Various ages
Different opinions on the overall topic.
35. 35. Documentary Title
This was the font of the chapter names in the graffiti documentary.
36. 36. BBC documentary; My Story
Establishing shot’s , using panning, of the places the interviews have taken place.
Voice over describing the process – people from around britain had to write in and how the 15 finalists were chosen.
Then an overall descripion of each episode and what will be covered. program.
37. 37. First clip in the program is shot on a street with one presenter describing the upcoming events. Background noise is low and his is loud.Location may have been used to represent the evrday people he will interview.
Non diegetic sond, ‘This is ‘My Story’’ and slow zoom to show full title
Location is Camden Town. Could use a similar technique.
38. 38. Shows different location as she describes her ordeal
First interviewee has non diagetic soft music as she describes a sensitive topic.
Silent video with voice-over continuing interview.
Close up video footage
39. 39. Over the shoulder shot of interviewer and interviewee
Back to the interviewr to keep it interesting. Soft non diegetic music and different location.
Backgound music slowly increases tempo as the intervewee talks of conclusion to their story.
Ends with clips from next episode
40. 40. Idea’s
Appropriate music to individual themes. E.g. soft, slower tempo when talking about meaningful tattoo’s and fast faced upbeat non diagetic sound when talking about culture tattoo’s with flashing images to make it look interesting and exciting.
Ending of episode had a good explanation of the next episode that had flashing images and enticed the audience.
Range of shots and angles for various themes.
41. 41. THE END 
