Who are we?<br />Mercury Online Academy<br />Who are we?<br />We are a tuition-free, kindergarten through 8th grade public charter school.<br />Our mission: Prepare students to excel in core subjects, develop strong critical thinking and problem solving skills and acquire an arts, humanities and technology background. <br />We believe: A quality education is the birthright of every individual, that all children can learn, and that every child should be challenged to reach his or her full potential.<br />
  3. 3. Who can enroll? What’s the cost?<br />Any student entering grades K-8 who resides in Arizona.<br />Students must be able to travel to the on-site location once a week.<br /> It’s free. We’re a public online charter school.<br />

  9. 9. Innovative & engaging instruction<br />For students in grades 5 and higher, students meet with content area teachers (math, English, science).<br />Frequent communication and feedback from the teacher.<br />Parents provide guidance and support as needed for young learners.<br />

What does it look like?<br /> Students log on daily.<br />They read announcements and access their course work.<br />They have real time meetings with their teachers according to the schedule.<br />They complete work and receive individualized feedback in a timely manner.<br />They meet with their teacher face-to-face once a week for an in-depth Paragon session.<br />

How does the schedule work?<br /> All students will have set class times online with fellow students and their teacher each week.<br /> One day per week in the classroom is required.<br /> Additional professional teacher time will be available but not required.<br /> Students will have a schedule of due dates for online course work which can be done at any time of day.<br />
  12. 12. Connected community of learners<br /> Instructors are available daily for support with lessons and to provide guidance on course work.<br /> A technical help desk is available during regular business hours.<br /> Additional tutoring is available free of charge.<br />

What do we need to participate?<br /> A computer, printer, and internet access will be provided to all students in need.<br /> Transportation is required to and from the on-site classroom one day per week.<br /> All learning materials will be provided either online or distributed during the on-site day.<br />
