Fifthplay develops and produces innovative technologies for energy management in
buildings and for health monitoring of patients. They are also actively working on the
further integration of technology into our buildings and cities.
Gateway is a key device for Fifthplay customers. It enables various devices to be
accessed from the Internet without a computer.
One of the great features Gateway provides is the ability to control devices at home via the
Internet. The Energy Smart application that we have developed for Fifthplay is an inroad to
the skyrocketing mobile market. Users who install it on their smartphones obtain mobile
control over their home plugs.
What the client required
The customer ordered the full cycle of the application development for 3 OS: iOS, Android
and Windows Phone 7. It included:
 Architecture and planning;
 Graphical design;
 Implementation;
 Testing;
 Posting on app stores.

What we offered to our client
Our team was able to cover all required tasks and developed all 3 versions from scratch.
After the acceptance procedures at the customer side, those applications were published
on the respective app stores.
Main features of the application
The user logs into his/her account using login and password received together with the
Gateway. A list of registered plugs is shown. Their statuses are indicated using special
icons or labels, as shown on the screenshots.
In addition, the list on the Windows Phone 7 version is done in the form of a panorama,
and shows various totals:

Tapping on a plug opens the Plug Details screen. Here, the user sees information about
electricity consumption on the plug, and can turn it on/off from his/her smartphone.

Another important feature of Energy Smart is graphs. The application shows energy
consumption for periods of day, week, month and year. The user can choose units of
measure: watts/hour, euros and watts to be shown on the charts. Data can be shown for
individual plugs, or totally for the account.

Energy Smart is an international application. Currently it supports English, Dutch and
French languages, and can be easily extended.
Conclusion
We passed through all phases of the application development, and the customer received
the complete solution, available on the app stores. After this project was completed,
Fifthplay ordered a second phase from us: rebranding the application for their customer.
The next step for the Energy Smart application is support for new types of devices in
addition to plugs.
